Australian Wool Innovation to promote Woolmark

Ludhiana, March 13 To promote Woolmark in India and abroad, Australian Wool Innovation Limited has signed an MoU with Woolmark to improve its brand image. The company will spend Rs 130 million Australian dollars for its brand promotion, and also for the Australian wool brands in about 10 countries, in the next three years.

This was stated by Jimmy Jackson, Global Product Development Manager of Australian Wool Innovation. Jackson was in the city today.

He pointed out that at the moment, China is the biggest market for Australian marino wool. Jackson said that this is one of the finest varieties of wool in world. Now, the Australian suppliers are targeting the Indian market, where they have a share of only 10 per cent.

Jackson highlighted that the Indian market is growing and is also more flexible than the Chinese market, hence they are hopeful of a good response here. At present, 15 manufacturing units of the country are using Australian marino wool for making products for highend consumers. These products are likely to be ready in a month.

Jackson pointed out that two of these units are in Ludhiana, namely Rage Knits and R N Oswal. The company also plans to open an office in Delhi soon, where apart from information about wool variety. Even designing ideas will also be given by a team of designers, he added.

SK Chaudhari, Regional Director Asia Pacific Woolmark, Shyam Bansal, president of Wool Club, Sanjeev Mehta, executive member of Wool Club and some other senior executives were also present on the occasion.
