The foreign office advice, which goes further than the traditional admonition for women to dress modestly, follows allegations of drunken sex romps.
"The Foreign Office is worried that increasing numbers of tourists will get into trouble abroad as they the travel to less traditional holiday destinations and fall foul of local laws and customs," the Guardian newspaper said.
Acors, 34 and Michelle Palmer, 36, were found guilty in October of having sex on the beach in Dubai, which despite its pro-Western outlook still adheres to certain Islamic rules and bans sex out of wedlock.
A Dubai appeals court last month suspended a three-month jail term but the two were ordered to pay a USD 270 fine for drinking alcohol and ordered expelled from the country. After the deportation orders they returned home on December 24.
"If people don't research their destinations before they go, it could do more than spoil their holiday. What's normal in reports in Spain or Greece are not necessarily acceptable in Turkey or Egypt," director of consular services, Julian Braithwaite said.
The number of Britons going to Egypt this year has increased by 38 per cent and those going to Turkey has gone up by 32 per cent and similar rises are expected in 2009 as more Britons look outside the Eurozone to make their holiday money go further.
Warnings about modesty are also given to those planning to visit the Kenya coast and rural areas of Malaysia.

No doubt they get raped . They also wear revealing clothes and behave as though they are available and then cry foul. Enough is enough We already had so many issues and problems related to these foreigners in Goa and other tourist spots. What do they do at home then?
Tourism
It is time the so called advanced countries advised their citizens that offending local mores is not the best way to endear themselves to the local people and get to feel welcome. The extreme libertarian behavior is the cause of much of the social disintegration now witnessed in these advanced countries. If they follow more personal restraint in their own countries, they would not feel uncomfortable in adjusting with other societies and the whole world would then become an extended home for all.
Good decision by U.K.Not only in Muslim countries but everywhere Public sex should be avoided. We are not animals afterall.
Terrorists are invited and welcomed but sex only in the Musjid!
Yeah... and this message is posted by another terrorist.
Just don't put your religious feasibility on Muslims, Just visit puskkar and few ashrams in gujurat, you will get the truth of mandirs. Then come and comment like this.
Good timely advice. To make sex in public is an animal act. I advice to the westerners, if you don't have shame, atleast care for the others. Making love is a nature's gift to the individuals to express love, care, and happiness. So, it should be a private act with the two indiviuals concerned and not a public show. Behave yourself you westerners!!!!
good grief must we act like animals anywhere for that matter sex is or was a personal /private expresion of love what happened to our morals I say good for the muslim countries and shame on the others who condone such behavior
Dear Karen,In all the replies on this topic I saw your reply an exception. I would appreciate if we can talk on this subject and few other aspects of life that Islam lays stress on and those that are thoroughly misunderstood by non-muslims. If you approve my request please do contact me. Best regards,Ali Akailvi
our tourism ministry should utilise the current international meltdown to its advantage by actively promoting our tourist spots with complete details of the fares ,safety trouble free areas for trekking/camping etc.i have travelled as part of several trekking expeditions in uttarkhand/zanskar ranges etc and find the locals very cultured.they neverr trouble the numerous foreigners who trek and are very happy to help as guides and porters.its only in metros u find people asking for 10000 for samosas etc.we r a country which is in rich in glaciers/forests/deserts/rivers/languages(with most understanding english)/religious places and can become prosperous by giving adequate importance to tourism which is the industry to watch and the driver of economy of the 21st century
