Axis Bank Q3 net up 24 pct

Mumbai Private sector lender Axis Bank today reported a 23.6 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 1,102.27 crore for third quarter ended December 31, 2011.

The bank had posted a net profit of Rs 891.36 crore for the corresponding quarter last fiscal, Axis Bank said in a filing to the BSE.

Total income of the lender increased to Rs 7,206.77 crore during the October-December quarter from Rs 4,986.02 crore in the same period last year.

During the first nine months of 2011-12, the bank clocked a 25.1 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 2,964.94 crore from Rs 2,368.38 crore in the same period a year ago.

The bank reported a total income of Rs 19,766.93 crore in the first three quarters, compared to Rs 13,969.88 crore in the same period last financial year.
