Uttam Khobragade, General Manager, BEST, said, “The committee has given a go-ahead to write to the Urban Development department to allow BEST to permit us to dispose of FSI which we are not allowed to utilise.”
FSI of several plots could not be utilised owing to restrictions under the Coastal Regulation Zone rules.
Earlier in July 2006, the State government had allowed the undertaking to utilise 30 per cent of the built-up area of the entire permissible floor area of the reserved plots for commercial utilisation.
According to Khobragade, there is substantial amount of unused FSI, which would get “handsome” revenue for the undertaking, if permitted to sell at the market rates by the State government. Therefore, the undertaking would be writing to the UD department shortly to seeking permission to dispose off such FSI potential to outsider — residential or commercial complex for their purpose at the market rate.
