BJP confident of poll tie-up with RLD: Rajnath

New Delhi Amid rumours of Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Ajit Singh cozying up to Congress for a poll tie-up, BJP president Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the saffron party was "confident" of forging an alliance with the RLD.

"We are confident and an alliance would be announced soon. There is no reason for it (RLD-BJP alliance) not to happen," Rajnath Singh told reporters in New Delhi.

The alliance is crucial to Rajnath Singh personally since a lot would depend on the help rendered by the RLD for him to win the Gaziabad seat in western Uttar Pradesh.

Posters and banners have already come up across Gaziabad with Rajnath praising RLD patron and former Prime Minister Charan Singh as the "messiah of farmers."

The BJP, which is in talks with the RLD since August last year, has not yet been able to finalise a seat-sharing formula amid rumours of its leader Ajit Singh cozying up to Congress to "explore possibilities" of his party in UPA.

The saffron party has set a deadline of February-end to finalise all its seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

PARTY WITH A DIFFERENCE by K Sundar on 23 Feb 2009

Yes, I agree with you all the BJP is definitely a party with a difference. This Party has created new record whereby many of its MPs and MLAs have been caught on camera accepting bribes. Bangaru, Judev, cash for query scam, MPLAD scam etc. It has an MP like Babubhai Katara who has been caught for human trafficiking and many other crimes. Numerous scams took place during the so-called India shining rule of NDA and to name a few, Coffin scam, Ketan Parekh scam, Petrol pump allotment scam, share market scam, UTI scam, telecom scam etc. which is also a record. It will talk about tough action against Pakistan out of power, but when in power, its then PM would be busy running new trains and buses between India and Pakistan and will be having tea parties with the Pak Premier even after Parliament attack. It will also release deadly terrorists and pay ransom as during Kandahar.

PARTY WITH DIFFERENCES by R Sundar on 23 Feb 2009

I am shocked to know that you still think that the BJP is anyway different from other Parties. Every Political party in this Country is a power monger. But, there is always a place for the first and you can put the BJP over all the above. Else, how can you ever explain a Party which talks so much about Hindutva had alliance with Parties like the DMK, BSP, Paswan etc. Its Hindutva appeal is only to garner votes and without that it can never appeal to its constituency and therefore the constant on and off on Hindutva. Once in power, it will forget about the so-called Hindutva and will begun to cherish the ideals of secularism as Vajpayee did in his rule from 1997 to 2004.

rajnath and eld by shurkumishra on 21 Feb 2009

dear rajnath, winning an election is not the sole objective in politics.means should be more important than ends.if u get elected with the help of a tainted, oppertunist and corrupt man like ajit singh then shame on u.the paety with a difference has really betrayed the people of india.it is better to sit in opposition then to compromise.on principle.we had a great hope on u but like vp singh u have also cheared us.
