New Delhi Congress today termed as "unfortunate" the protest against the Prime Minister in Amritsar and said Team Anna should have shown black flags to BJP leaders who are responsible for not passing of the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Party spokesperson Rashid Alvi said Congress and its allies got the Bill passed in Lok Sabha where they have got majority and in Rajya Sabha, it was hoping that the BJP, which was championing the cause of Lokpal, would support it but the opposition party did not do so.

"So, they deserve to be shown black flags. It is our party's commitment to get the Bill passed in the Budget Session," he said.

Alvi also wished speedy recovery to Anna Hazare, who has been admitted in a Pune hospital and "prayed for his long life".

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur were today shown black flags by supporters of anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

A handful Hazare's supporters, including women, raised slogans against corruption and in favour of Lokpal as soon as Singh and his wife came out after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple.

This appointed unelected PM pays obeisance to sonia everyday by Dr.G.Srinivasan on 02 Jan 2012

MMS pays obeisance to madame Sonia every day as PM and it is because he got the "Appointment letter " from her !!!! This does not have anything to do with democracy!!!! He had been an exceptional PM in the sense he was never elected by the citizens of this poor nation but managed to be in the PM's office through backdoor for two terms!!!! what a shame in a democracy!!!!

BJP deserves black flags, not the PM: Cong by Sham on 02 Jan 2012

Congress is now blaming the BJP that they did not support them to pass the Lokpal bill in the RS. As a matter of fact there is no logic in this at all. Can the congress or the government explain why the BJP should have given them support in the RS, when they, from the very beginning did not agree to many points contained therein. Why should they support a weak Lokpal bill, when the government did not want to accomodate any of the modifications tabled by them? For such an important bill there should be consense across the party lines. The congress government was not serious about the bill from the very beginning, as they are afraid more scams may come to light. Now blaming this on the opposition is a cheap propoganda with no base at all.

Political ballgame by Swapan Chakravarthy on 02 Jan 2012

What the Congress spokesman missed telling us is that in such a case consensus was never reached and why PM should be kept away from the ambit of the Lokpal's jurisdiction has never been explained. To lose face once in a while is a political ballgame and take it as it comes.
