Lucknow BJP leaders in Uttar Pradesh on Monday appeared divided over possible re-induction of Kalyan Singh into the party fold, a day after the former Hindutva mascot indicated his desire to return to his parent organisation.

When contacted, the leaders said it was for the BJP High Command to decide on the matter, adding Kalyan Singh was not an ordinary man who could be re-admitted by anyone.

"It is not an issue to be decided at my level. I have only welcomed his regret on his act of betraying the party," senior BJP leader and MP Lalji Tandon said.

"Singh is not a common worker who can be re-inducted by anyone," he said.

"He (Kalyan) will have to win over the trust of the party leadership which will decide on his re-joining," said Tandon who had telephonic conversation with the former Chief Minister yesterday.

BJP UP chief Ramapati Ram Tripathi, however, said the regret expressed by Kalyan Singh appeared to be the outcome of political compulsions after he was dumped by the Samajwadi Party.

"Whatever he is saying is a realisation of his past mistakes which have left him politically isolated today," Tripathi said.

Former state unit head Kesari Nath Tripathi said Kalyan deserted the BJP at a crucial juncture -- just before the Lok Sabha elections -- and, therefore, this aspect should not be overlooked.

"If I have my way, he should not be taken back into the BJP fold," said the former state assembly Speaker.

Shri Kalyan Singh Jee by VP Misra on 29 Nov 2009

Apart from his personal decisions nothing can be said about the his honesty & integrity. No doubt he is a strong capable leader of the State. It is no matter whether his decisions were right or wrong. It is better if he will be reinducted if BJP want to be stablize otherwise the time will tell.BJP must take the wise decision.

Kalyan deserve to be in company of 'losers' of India by Jas on 17 Nov 2009

I think he will be welcomed if he assures the leaders of BJP that he will arrange to demolish another mosque where Ram was born. BJP is the party of big-time losers whose brains are even smaller than their shrunken hearts, and Kalyan supremely meets all qualifications to be in their party.

KALYAN-SP-BABRI by AMP on 17 Nov 2009

Kalyan Singh is traitor and opportunit. He must not be taken back to BJP. BJP must come out as desciplined party unlike SP, Congress, CPI, CPM and RJD.

Kalyan SinghI by V.Padmanabhan on 16 Nov 2009

It would do a lot good to the BJP as a party if turn coats like Kalyan Singh are not admitted to the party so as to keep the party free of self serving people.

BJP by Varind on 16 Nov 2009

It is in the interest of BJP to take back Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, Jaswant Singh and Arun Shorie if the apologize for their mistake. Party discipline is most important than individuals. Though the taste of power has gone into the haeds of many BJP leaders, this trend has to be shedded and stopped. To err is human and Forgive is divine. Instead inflicting furthe damage to the party, put up a united front by solomnly pledging that power cannot overcome service to the people for which the party was once know. BJP should promote young leaders who are not only brilliant but real nationalists. Elder leaders like Advani ji, Rajnath, Shekhawat, Jaswant Sinha should be respected from the core of heart and srely BJP will bounce back. Vande Matram.

A posterboy from RSS shakha culture by Naim Naqvi on 16 Nov 2009

The pearls of eternal wisdom , all from Shri Kalyan Singh -once a poster boy of RSS%u2019s Hindutva: "While Muslims have a right to be proud of Islam, Hindus have equal right to be proud of their Hindutva. It's unfortunate that to realize their political ambitions some people are creating fissures among these two faiths. Everyone's right to belief should be protected. But now social forces will expose this conspiracy of dividing the society. He has entered into %u2018friendship%u2019 with Yadav and it was not a %u2018political alliance. In friendship conditions are not imposed. Therefore, there are no conditions in our friendship. The prime objective was to prevent BJP from assuming power at the Centre and to ruin its chances. I am happy that to fulfill these objectives my friendship with Mulayam is being appreciated and welcomed by the people, especially those who want to ruin BJP.%u201D Now the same turn-coat is plotting to come back to Mummy's blanket. Make him president of BJP by Raj on 16 Nov 2009

Kalyan stood with Advani to forment religous fanatism. Make him the president of BJP so that he can also accummulate some wealth like Kalyan's. Find out how much wealth Advani and family had before the demolition of the mosque and how much they have now. Poor Kalyan, he did not get a pie of the cake.
