BJP makes strategies sitting in AC rooms: Kalyan

New Delhi Attacking BJP as a party that "makes strategies sitting in air-conditioned rooms", Kalyan Singh said the failure to focus on common man-related issues led to its defeat in the Lok Sabha elections.

"BJP focused on issues like Ram Setu and Amarnath land row. However, these are issues that did not enthuse the common man," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said while speaking to reporters in Parliament.

"Where were the issues related to the common man, the youth, the poor and farmers? These are the core issues that BJP did not raise," Singh said.

He said the top BJP leadership will have to take responsibility for its loss in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.

"What do you mean by collective responsibility? The top leaders will have to sit and analyse the reasons behind their loss," he said.

Singh, who won as an Independent backed by Samajwadi Party from Etah Lok Sabha seat, asserted that Samajwadi Party will win the 2012 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

"In the just concluded Lok Sabha elections people choose UPA over NDA. However, I am saying with confidence that Samajwadi Party will emerge victorious in the next assembly elections there. People are not happy with the governance of Mayawati's BSP and therefore SP will emerge successful," Singh said.

On why he had come close to SP prior to the LS elections, the former BJP leader said, "I had left BJP and had no plans of retiring from politics. Mulayam Singh ji came forward with his offer of friendship and I accepted it."

He also dismissed the theory that his closeness with SP eroded Mulayam Singh's Muslim vote base. "Had that been the case, then why has Jaya Prada won from Rampur and how could I have won from Etah?" was his refrain.

Kalyan won as an Independent from Etah, which along with Rampur, is a Muslim-dominated seat.

Great Leader with Great Influence. by Kamal Singh on 02 Jun 2009

It is so good to see people pouring their emotions against this Great man and downgrading themselves in the process.Mr.Kalyan Singh is a Great Leader of Masses.BJP`s strategy of using him for their own benefit, without giving due respect to him,has been mashed by this far-sighted veteran politician. It is only everyone`s frustration not being able to use him again.Mr.Kalyan Singh had announced before the elections that BJP will acquire close to 120 seats.Everybody thought it was an assertion out of frustration.But..BJP got 119 seats! This is what makes you a Quality Politician...Farsightedness.If today Mr.Kalyan Singh says that BJP should have focussed on core issues of Youth,Farmers etc. than on RamMandir orSetu etc,Its bcz of his indepth understanding of the Indian mindset and the Political arena.BJP has failed to capitalize on the quality and experience of this Great politician. He is referred to as Babuji among his followers and loved ones.Undoubtedly...he is Babuji of Indian Politics.

PPC, Ghar Jao by Pradeep on 02 Jun 2009

Hi PPC,I have been seing your comments. You seem to be active on all the news items related to BJP, esp its president Advani.I beleive the negative results are good. Because it will force BJP to realign and comeback stronger. I think BJP should work on strengthen its roots, and leave the rest to the people. The people wont get carried away all the time by Congress hoopla. They do back the actions for development, for eg Golden Quadrilateral, which Congress has unceremoniously stopped.

Only a senseless man can say Advani is a leader by Arun on 02 Jun 2009

Only a senseless man can say Advani is a leader. He is the leader for starting communal divide and let people like Nirender modi come in power from his home state. His ideology is the ideology of varun gnadhi.Bjp is shrinking In every national election after Vajpayee. Also Rajesh and Aniyan go sit in Advani's ****

Leave the BJP to its credible Leaders to handle. by Thomas Varghese on 01 Jun 2009

No one wanted your findings on BJP's defeat. Check your own ideology to join your biggest rival overnight.

we the Indians by iyer v seshan on 01 Jun 2009

This is a sorry state of affairs where a 40 to 60% of voters have franchised their power to elect a government. We are only ourselves to blame and not the Politicians of this great Country. Why are young intelectuals and educated people not coming forward to take the responsbility to lead the Nation. Because we leave everything in the hands of others and say it not my cup of tea. Today the situation is so bad that our children will be strugling to lead a normal life which we are presently leading and find a decent job whereas India is prospering on paper and or may be true. But let me ask one question. Do we really live peacefully in our own country. It was better if Gandhiji never got us our so beloved freedom. Atleast there would have been one government or one ruller to rule and not so many parties who are all very very opurtisnistcs to join one party and leave on party for own greedy or oportunity to have ministerial post. Wake up Indians before it is too late. Jai Hind.

Refused ticket to Son - BJP became bad !! by Aniyan on 01 Jun 2009

When did this sense start prevailing? When BJP refused ticket for his Son, BJP became bad party for him. Once left, again returned and will knock again. If Mulayam is keeping Kalyan close to his Party for the next 2 months or so, it will be good for Congress and BJP as people of UP are now finally decided on this two national parties, with the other individual led private parties hardly do anything for the common people. Kalyan will soon become an orphan, without any claimant.

The Great Leader - Advani by Aniyan on 01 Jun 2009

Advani heads a party as the seniormost leader and leads its members in Parliament, as a leader of the masses, who is the founder leader of Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been voted to lead the masses, from Gandhinagar for the fourth consecutive term. No one dare to direct, what this Leader should do in India, much less the spineless skeletens in nick name and boasting as Hindu. Loss of 19 seats in the Parliament is not a defeat and he is up again to lead a contingent of 119 strong members of BJP, not a couple of dozen. If any sense prevail in the mud filled head, better think of this than licking Petrol Pump ass.

Third grade politician by Chandrakant Marathe on 01 Jun 2009

Kalyan Singh is an opportunist politician and should be ignored by the media.

Advani, ghar jao by DR.PETROL PUMP CHOR on 01 Jun 2009

The very simple reason behind the negative resluts for BJP are that their party represents osama-bin-laden like policies. And they want to convert us Hindus into taliban types. With these results,Advani should deport himself to his country of birth.

Look into the mirror by Rajesh Sharma on 01 Jun 2009

Read your own sentence about sending Advani to Pakistan and decide who is a greater Taliban/Osama; It should be you who can not tolerate a different view, can not debate it and hence spread misinformation, lies and hatred. BJP bashing has become a shortcut to prove that you are intellectual. And intolerant people are taking advantage of it.
