BJP plans to corner Omar on Amarnath row

Jammu The BJP will take the Government led by Omar Abdullah to task on the issue of Amarnath agitation and the discrimination meted out to Jammu.

The party will decide on the line of action to be taken in the new Assembly at a meeting of all its 11 legislators.

The party is depending on old stalwarts, including former MoS for Defence Chaman Lal Gupta, and new faces like Prof Gharu Ram, Sukh Nandan Kumar and Bharat Bhushan Bodhi to corner the Government.

Besides demanding that the Government shouldn’t interfere in the functioning of the Amarnath Shrine Board, the BJP will target the Government on the issue of Jammu being discriminated in the representation of Assembly seats. “Delimitation is our main demand. There are Assembly seats in Kashmir which are spread over a population of 60,000 while in Jammu, on average, an Assembly seat is spread over a population of 80,000. Jammu region has always faced discrimination. Under the Ghulam Nabi Azad Government, while daily wagers in Kashmir were being paid Rs 2,100 a month, their counterparts in Jammu were getting only Rs 500. The former CM is shedding crocodile tears by saying that Jammu has lost in the BJP win,” said BJP state president Ashok Khajuria.

He said the party would have no problem in supporting the Congress in starting an exercise of fresh delimitation of Assembly seats. Earlier, the Azad-led Government had brought a Bill in the Assembly to carry out fresh delimitation of Assembly constituencies, which fell due to the lack of support by other parties.

Khajuria said they would also demand that those having the custodian property of the people who have migrated to the other side of the border in the earlier wars with Pakistan should get the ownership rights. “There is no need for a Custodian Department. Also, we will ensure that the Pakistani and PoK refugees get their due rights,” he added.

BJP plans to corner Omar on Amarnath row by karpakarajan v chettiar on 01 Jan 2009

Is it not fair, to expect clarification from Mr. Azad, what he meant by saying that Jammu lost in the elections.

BJP to corner Omar by pairamblr on 31 Dec 2008

If BJP wants to be an Indian Party with a difference, then they should declare that they aregoing to work towards the prosperity of the state. They should discuss the issues with govt - Omar also, again and again and see how solutions can be found out, instead of the age old thinking that opposition is to oppose. Think India, and make others THINK INDIA. provide support to Omar. He is well known to BJP. So what is the problem.Show to Congress and others that inspite of being in opposition, they can be helping the ruling party rule properly. That is statesmanship. That is working for the country.People will notice that and BJP will be liked by more people.Fundamentalism is not going to solve any problem. Frank discussions and honestly working towards the welfare of the people will help the party to move forward.

BJP is the true voice of India by Surath on 31 Dec 2008

BJP Victory is the Victory of India and Indians

BJP is truly national!!! by Raj on 31 Dec 2008

Yes Surath. Just like Nazis were the voice of Germany. Do you see any difference between Nazis and BJP (RSS) other than that BJP is little more deceptive and corrupt.

BJP is a lesser evil by suresh k on 02 Jan 2009

Yes BJP is less deceptive and corrupt than the congress UPA. It is a less evil compared to the congress. So isn't it logical to choose BJP over UPA

Congress comes closer to Nazis by Ramesh Chengappa on 01 Jan 2009

Yes Raj...you need to get your head tested . BJP and Nazis ? What is the connection? If any party comes closer to Nazis..its the Congress..which murdered 4000 sikhs in one day ..and made 3 lakh hindu pandits sleep on the streets of delhi when thier jihadi colleauges in Kashmir kicked out and raped hindus at gun point..and destroyed 700 temples in 2 years.

Nazi connection is in your head by Raj on 01 Jan 2009

Chengappa, that is it. So let us kill all minorities. You are prescribing test for me. I do not see my neighbors color through his religion. You are the one who needs some medicine with out any test. You dont even know that you hate minorities for the crime someone else did. You think your neighbor did it because he follows that religion. Congress did not kill Sikh people. Indian people (you decide their religion) did it because of their jealosy of the success of Sikh people. Congress is a non0living organization (Just like RSS did not kill Gandhi- it was Godse) Do you know why North Indias make stupid jokesabout Sikh people. Because they hate them for their success in business.

Raj you are a bufoon!! by Rajan on 03 Jan 2009

Congress has a history of promoting communal riots. The massacare of Sikhs in Delhi with many congress leaders openly participating and instigating the crow to massacare Sikhs is a clear example of Congress party's Nazi behaviour. What did Rajiv Gandhi say about it? When a big tree falls tremours occur!?! This is Congress for you. Don't just preach about other parties with a history like this. Congress always tries to divide people on the basis of religion by cleverly promoting slogans that are designed to look favourable to minorities so that it gets their votes. Please note Congress actually does nothing but slogans. When any party tries to counter the slogans with facts and arguements about its validity COngress goes on to brand it as communal. That's Congress for you. Period.

Congress and 1984 riots by Yogesh on 02 Jan 2009

Raj, You said "Congress did not kill Sikh people. Indian people (you decide their religion) did it because of their jealosy of the success of Sikh people." Delhi Governor (Congress candidate) did not deploy Army in time. Rajiv Gandhi (Then PM) said that when "big tree falls, earth is bound to shake". Jagdish Tytler, HKL Bhagat, Sajjan Kumar were roaming around with goondas showing them houses/shops etc. to be targeted. Do all these people not represent Congress? Then what is congress?

BJP is victory for division of this Nation by Sujeet Ramanna on 31 Dec 2008

They have sown the seed of division in Jammu like they did in bombay, gujrat, and trying desperately in their ruled states of karnataka, orissa. their sick tirade is a blot on the countrys image nationally and internationally

BJP's role in J by V.Shanmuganathan on 31 Dec 2008

The elected Govt has not even taken the charge, but our so called opposite parties [ read BJP ] taken the pledge to unseat the Govt before it take oath of office. This kind of politics is not good for India. The BJP should play a good opposition role which can help the Kashmir pandits who were chased by the extrimists from their own villages/towns and it can play a role in setrighting the discrimination in the Assembly seat formations in Jammu.Instead of puting unnecessary speed breakers into the Amarnath land problem,it should give support to the Govt in such a way that the Amarnath land problem is solved and is acceptable to the both dominant religions in Jammu

BJP's politics by Raj on 31 Dec 2008

I thought BJP potitians wanted to serve the people (at least that is what politicians say). WHy do they want to corner an elected government. Don't they have anything constructive to do?

Re:BJP's politics by Jay on 31 Dec 2008

Raj: Don't you realise that it is not an elected government. Two parties which do not have a majority on their own join forces together to gain power. But 50% of the state (Jammu) does not have a say in teh goverment since Jammu has elected BJP. Ideally BJP should have been part of the goverment.

Muslims ... Be Secular by Baatul on 31 Dec 2008

Muslim as a majority can never be half as secular as Hindu dominated govt. This doesn't mean Hindu majority should behave like Muslims. Hope Muslims learn to give equal rights to non-Muslims and let their minorities like minorities in India do. Omar Abdullah has a secular mindset but he's a politician FIRST and knows what average Muslim wants.

Back to the 'Dividing the Nation' business as usual, for the BJP by Sujeet Ramanna on 31 Dec 2008

there you go! BJP at its best! dividing the nation along religous lines. Employment, infrastructure, investments, tourism. These issues find no room in the BJP agenda. What is the biggest agenda for them?!! Amarnath yatra issue!! Didnt expect anything better from them anyway. This is the responsible opposition! People should tell the BJP to concentrate on the progress of this country, not take it back to the dark ages!

Discrimination against JAMMU by rohit on 31 Dec 2008

how is fighting for Jammu's legitimate rights anti-secular? Pseudo-sickulars are really sick.

pseudo-seculars million times better than hardcore fundamentalists by Sujeet Ramanna on 31 Dec 2008

yeah right! like they are really concerned about the 'legitimate rights'. Legitimate rights, my foot! they are here to do only one thing, the only one thing they know to do, polarisation of people along religious lines. BJP does not know one thing about administration, progress or properity of the people they govern. But polarisation of people along religious lines, 'BJP phir champion'

BJP plans to corner Omar on Amarnath row by Avinash K. Rangra on 31 Dec 2008

Atlast the historical relationship is traced by a forigner! by Sheikh Mohmed Nafrat on 31 Dec 2008

The claim of the Congress and particularly of Sonia and her coterie that the have once again joined hand together after more than decade seperation with Abdulla's Family is not entirely wrong. The raltionship does exsist right from Motilal Nehru's time.Atleast Sonia is better equiped to trace the history!Three cheers for Sonia and the Abdullas.

BJP Anti-National Party by Rehan on 31 Dec 2008

BJP its only a fundamentalist party. This party is having good administrators but they have no Agenda except dividing people on religious bases and comming to power no matter how many people loose their life, this party people wants Power. They are Hindu hardliners with just on point agenda do kill or destabalise minorities of this country.

BJP Anti-National Party by Dhananjay on 31 Dec 2008

Rehan,Just ask muslims in karnataka, MP, even Gujarat. They are still there but minority Pandits are raped, killed and driven out of kashmir during congress. If you are a true Indian and not a fanatic, use your own senses and find out which party is communal in reality.Ask a few q to yourself1) Why the congress promoted riots against sikhs in delhi just after the sad demise of Indira Gandhi?2)Why congress created bhindranwale?3)why congress sits with proven communal culprits like lalu and shahabuddin?4)why we are forced to enter religion, caste, subcaste in every form5)why and how congress invented castism in islam which prides itself in islamic broderhood?

Kick out Congress by Deepak on 31 Dec 2008

Whilst BJP are not saints, they are at least the only nationalist political party in india. The rest are either terrorists like Muslim League or close supporters of terrorists i.e Congress, SP, JD or complete thugs and morons like BSP or open anti nationalists like communists. With scum like these in power, India can never become a world superpower, despite having the internal talent, resources to become one. Indians must boot out congress from power in the next elections and by 2014, we must ensure that congress, BSP, JD, SP , commies are reduced to penury and wiped out politicially from our system

pandian,It seems you need to open your eyes and mind. just consider a few facts1)congress forced jinnah to ask for pak by dening any share in power.2)congress was ruling when Pandits from kashmir were looted, raped, terrorised and driven out of their homes.
