Chandigarh, February 18 The BJP activists led by senior leaders including former MP Satya Pal Jain and state unit president Kamla Sharma staged a protest demonstration at Manimajra to oppose the recent hike in the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday.

The BJP leaders held the Congress directly responsible for the price hike. Satya Pal Jain alleged that the rise in prices was the result of the anti-people and anti-poor policies perpetuated by the Congress-led government.

The state unit president, Kamla Sharma criticised local Congress leaders for supporting the price hike. She said that the Chandigarh unit of BJP has decided to start an “awareness campaign” in the city, adding that the protest demonstrations and meetings will be held against the petroleum price hike.
