Attacking the Congress for making the Left parties an important player in the nation's polity, senior party leader L K Advani said "no party has given such place to Communists as Congress has done. It has indeed resulted in the 'Kremlinisation' of Indian politics."
Advani, who has always remained a prominent Communist baiter, told the party's national council in New Delhi on Tuesday that Communists always worked against the national interest.
"Congress knows well the real face of the Communists and their role in history including in the freedom movement," he said.
Advani charged that the Communists in the UPA government as enjoying "the veto power in major decisions and it has led to the devaluation of institutions."
He said Indira Gandhi did take their support but had only used them.
He said the Left parties not only "disagreed on a JPC on Indo-US nuclear deal but went ahead to make an arrangement involving only them and the UPA."
"It is a matter of concern that the Left parties put on a facade of opposition on nuclear deal but were unable to strike at the UPA when it persisted and still persists with the deal," the political resolution passed by the National Council said.
Another senior leader Jaswant Singh noted that "the Communists hold the brakes of the UPA while the accelerator is in 10, Janpath (Sonia Gandhi's residence)".

Karat, Surjeet, Bhardan and their comrades are more dangerous and poisonous than the worst kind of crocodiles and snakes. The communist rascals who live on the hand outs from China should never ever be trusted by any political party. It is a pity that Congress has fallen in the trap set by this rogues. I would prefer to have Rabri in power than this snakes and crocodiles. In UPA, they enjoy power without accountability and talk of third front without quitting the current establishment. They constantly threaten the Govt over the US nuclear deal. Yet, they would not quit. That shows how unprinciplied and third rate people they are.
