The party blamed the Congress for fooling the Brahmins in the past. The Sammelan also made it clear that the party might make British Foreign Secretary David Miliband's visit to a Dalit house in Amethi an issue in the parliamentary elections.

Addressing the participants, Satish Chandra Mishra, the BSP national general secretary and the party's "Brahmin face", spoke about the party's social engineering by forging a Dalit-Brahmin combination, attributing the party's success in the last Assembly elections to this formula.

Pointing out that there were only three Brahmins from UP in Parliament, he said it was the BSP that had organised Brahmin Bhaichara Sammelan in the past and ensured proper representation in the system.

Reiterating the BSP's new slogan - "Jitani jiski taiyari, utani uski hissedari (you would get your share on the basis of your preparation)" - he told them that the success of the BSP's social engineering formula could be gauged from the victory of the party's 62 candidates from the reserved seats.

Reminding people that the state has 89 reserved seats for the SCs and STs, Mishra described the Samajwadi Party as the Brahmins' first and last enemy.

On Milliband's visit, Mishra said it was nothing but a joke made of the people's poverty. Milliband had visited Amethi as a guest of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Referring to the closed industrial units in Amethi and Rae Bareli, the BSP leader hinted that the land given to establish industrial units there lying unused would be a major poll plank against the Gandhis.
