Kolkata With the stand-off between Baichung Bhutia and Mohun Bagan yet to be sorted out, the Indian captain's participation in their season-ender AFC Cup match against Syrian side Al Karamah on Tuesday remains uncertain.

The ace Indian striker was on May 14 served a show-cause notice and asked him to explain reasons behind missing a number of training sessions and an exhibition match in Jalpaiguri without prior notice.

In the strongly-worded e-mail by club general secretary Anjan Mitra, in which Baichung was addressed as a "registered player" but not as captain, the Sikkimese star was barred from taking part in the team's training till he clarifies his "conduct" within 48 hours of serving the notice.

Baichung however was yet to reply, even as the 48 hours deadline got over on Saturday.

Clueless about Baichung's stand, Mitra said, "We are not sure about him."

Asked whether Baichung would be available for Mohun Bagan's match against Al Karamah at Howrah Municipal Corporation Stadium on May 19, Mitra said, "It is still uncertain ... It all depends on him."

Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencherifa declined to comment on the issue and said, "I cannot answer your question. I have no comments to make."
