Earlier in the day, an editorial attributing to Thackeray in the Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Samna,’ asked Sachin to concentrate on cricket and not on politics.
Defending Thackeray in a pres conference here Samna Executive Editor Sanjay Raut said: “The views stated by Balasaheb Thackeray are very clear. We at Shiv Sena also think that country comes first. That is why we always say ''Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra''. But Shiv Sena has every right to speak on the issue of Maharashtra and being Maharashtrian.”
“The BCCI should read the whole article. If he does want to, we will send it to him in Marathi. Then he will know realize,” Raut added.
He however clarified that the Shiv Sena did not wish to demean Sachin.
“Sachin’s father was a great Marathi litterateur and a poet. He also championed many causes of Maharashtrians. But that is a different issue. We are not trying to demean Sachin. Balasaheb Thackeray has great regard for him,” Raut said.
Earlier, commenting on the ''Marathi Manoos' issue Sachin had stated that he was proud to be a Maharashtrian but saw himself as "an Indian" first.
Thackeray in his article asked Sachin to concentrate on his batting instead of playing politics, claiming that his comment has hurt the sentiments of the Marathi Manoos.
Meanwhile, commenting on the uproar, former cricketer Kiran More who is also hailing from the state said: “It's very sad that Shiv Sena are involving Sachin in politics. He never meant it that way. I think we should respect Sachin, he has done so much for our country.”
More also urged all the parties not to take any political mileage out of it.
“Sachin is a very clean and private person and an ambassador of our country. So just leave him alone. Why to even get into any debate over it? We all agree with what he has said,” More added.

Well, How can It be Politics When One talks about being an Indian first and India being open to all Indian's irrespective of their place of origin?! Very baffling. These kind of statements just belittles the person who makes such comments. It is sad looking at such statements and the reactions, especially being an Indian Expatriate and being in this era of FTAs and open Global networking. It is sad that politicians have become such engrossed in vote politics. Anyway everybody has an opinion in India. Does its relevance matter any more!!!!

Thakeray ji, Shiv Sena is seen as a key ally of BJP. By indulging in linguistic jingoism, your willingly or unwittingly harming the image of BJP, which is already having a tuff time. This country needs BJP to take on the the Congress. Plz desist from this misadventure, atleast for the sake of BJP.
Shivaji fought for the freedom of Marathi people and wanted to have a state of their own where justice and welfare was promised.Surely he made provisions that if other states wanted freedom from Muslim conquerors his forces would help. This he did because he did not want to interefere or rule other cultures.Maharashtra state was really a well governed state until migrants came in huge numbers and changed culture of state to Money is God and made our leaders and government corrupt.Unless we solve the problem of people like Koda (caught with 640 crore in Mumbai),Lalu, Abu Azami, Amar Singh not yet caught, who have wrecked their states systematically we should not talk of India as one country.People like Koda would have been put to firing squad in China. They are more dangerous than terrorists killing a few hundred people because their looting has led to crowding in Mumbai where 1500 people are killed on rail tracks yearly.Crowding will soon lead chaos and mahyem and killings daily.

Sachin has used his fundamental right to freedom of speech.He never asked for Thackeray's advice as to concentrate on his cricket or not.Mr Raut should know that Bal is NOT his father to give such advice.

maharashtra does not want outsiders, so is the case with tamilnadu, karnataka, kashmir etc etc. They want only people belonging to that state to live there. Is there some one who is really bothered about the country as a whole, or lets just split each state into a different country, only then these idiots will learn that each state is dependent on another for their survival. With today's comments Bal has lost all respect of Maratha's. Yes, Sachin' remark makes all Indians inlcuding Maharashtrians very proud. We are part of India first - no doubt. By the same token it has completely ripped the veil of a fake set of leaders - the mama and bhanja combine of Bal & Raj. Dear brother Mahesh, I am overwhelmed to read your comments. We are Indian first. You know everybody in India always dream to come and see Mumbai and myself too had come, learned and left for Gulf in 1995. You know in Ranchi, there is chowk by name "Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk" with big idol and he is sitting in a hourse. Means, India first then a State. We Indian first then Maharastra, Bihar or Jharkhand. A United India means a united nation and united nation means a strongest nation. Bala and Raj should be sidelined by the people of Maharastra.
Somebody said, yeh hai Mumbai Meri Jaan. Zara Sambha Kar (this is Mumbai my love, be careful). My question is: Is Mumbai is Bala Thackeray's father city? (Or Kiya Thackeray Ke Baap Ki Mumbai Hai), Sala nation ko divide kar raha hai. Isko arrest karo under MACOCA mai aur dal do Arthur Road Jail mai.
In fact when being Marathi and accomplishing something that makes country proud is best thing that can happen to any Maharashtrian or for that matter to any Indian. Remember, it was Marathas who for sake of country marched 1500 kms to confront invaders back in 3rd battle panipat in 1761 - with intention to defend the nation. Sacrifice then was far more (over 100000 !). Almost every family in Maharashtra lost one family member for sake of defending the nation. This proves nationalist achievements are always held in highest regard.I am sure Sachin's comments makes every marathi proud.
Please dont take sanjay raut statement seriously. Sanjay Raut has every right to protect Mr. Thackeray, because, he has to work for his salary.
Mr Bala had his share of glory. with amitabh adopting his look for movie Sarkar, he is established icon. He should enjoi all the glory and respect he has got from everyone in and outside maharashtra. and he should keep away from Pure and Innocent people like Sachin. I love you Sachin :)
