Kolkata, August 07 According to delegates, state has a lot of potential but its political climate is unusual

Successive bandhs in the state has not gone down well with the foreign delegates at the ICT east 2008 meet, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries.

The delegates were of the opinion that the state has a lot of potential but there was something unusual about its political climate.

Mark Kobayashi, Director UK Outsourcing Association, said that though the state has a vibrant small and medium enterprise (SME) community, bandhs painted a negative picture of the state and definitely hampered the day-to-day business. “The image of the state needs to be corrected,” he said.

Kobayashi said in future he would like to work towards creating a bridge between SMEs of Europe and India “so that they can have an easy access to each other. A conducive political climate can definitely attract more foreign investors, as they will be more interested in the speedy delivery of products from the state. On Tuesday, Raman Roy of Quatrro BPO Solutions said that the state has little economic and non-economic benefits to offer for the BPOs.

Partha De Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer of HTMT global solutions, however, said that the state offers quality manpower and the company is happy with its centre’s location in Durgapur.
