Kolkata, January 9 The West Bengal Police, along with officials of Central investigative agencies, has arrested a Bangladeshi national who allegedly has links with a banned militant group in that country. Etin Alam (35) was arrested on Tuesday from his hideout at Madhyamgram. The authorities in Bangladesh are looking for him in connection with the 2005 serial blasts in that country and the murder of an MP there. Confirming the incident, North 24 Parganas ASP Sougata Sen said: “Alam is wan-ted in various cases in Bang-ladesh and did not possess valid papers. He was living under a different identity. He has been remanded in police custody for seven days.” According to the police, Alam sneaked into India in 2006 and operated under different names. On Tuesday, police received a tip-off that Alam was living in a rented house near Madhyamgram under the name Simul Chowdhury.
