Bank union to observe strike on January 25

Ambala, January 17 All the bank employees under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions working in public sector banks, private banks and foreign banks will observe a nation-wide strike on January 25 under the All India Strike Programmes preceded by various agitational actions.

Disclosing this at a press meet held at Ambala Cantonment today, the Haryana Bank Employees Federation general secretary N P Munjal stated that following the strike on January 25, bank employees and officers would observe a two-day strike on February 25 and 26 in support of their demands.

He said that if the government didn’t accept the demands of the bank employees, they would be compelled to go on indefinite strike from the last week of March.

Munjal said that the main demands included- stopping mergers in public sector banks, extending one more option to join pension schemes, restoring compassionate appointments, filling up all vacancies through recruitment in banks, stopping outsourcing of normal banking services and early settlement of wage revision.
