Mumbai Veteran music composer-cum-singer Bappi Lahiri has claimed credit for the success of pop diva Jennifer Lopez's latest track 'On The Floor' saying that its tune is similar to his song 'Sochana Kya' from the 1990 blockbuster 'Ghayal'.

"Jennifer Lopez's new song 'On the Floor' that has a Lambada-sampling and has become a huge hit is identical to my song 'Sochana Kya Jo Bhi Hoga Dekha Jayega'. The opening tune is the same," he said.

"I brought Lambada to India 19 years ago and she has done it now. The credit goes to me," he added.

Lahiri recently made his acting debut on the small screen with the show 'Ishaan' on Disney Channel.

"I did the role of a disco king in the serial 'Ishaan'. It was a good experience. I took this offer as I liked the script. I have also sung a disco song for children," he said.

The 58-year-old Lahiri, known for his penchant for gold jewellery, will also be acting in a film called 'Rocking Dard-e-Disco'.

"I am playing the role of a disco-king. He is owner of three discos in the city. The film is directed by Ashok Tyagi, produced by Dhumketu Punatar Films and stars Rituparna Sengupta, Sneha Ullal and Aryaman. Then I have 'Spaghetti' where I will be composing the music. The film has Mithun Chakraborty and his son Mimoh," he said.

Lahiri had small appearances in Shahrukh Khan's 'Om Om' and Salman Khan's 'Main Aur Mrs Khanna'.

Cheap publicity by Ankur on 11 Jul 2011

He himself "stole" it from the song lambda. It was not in English but some other language. However I have heard it in a very old audio cassette. Definitely much older than the release of the Film Ghayal. I used to like Bappi Lahiri but after this cheap publicity I have lost all respect for him. And JayLo stealing from Bappi?? Bappi you should be on the top of the world if she ever looks at you let alone steal from you.

Bappi Lahiri is complaining? by Ravi on 06 May 2011

Bappi Lahiri complaining that JLo lifted a tune from him? This from a person who made a carreer out of plagarizing western music. What a hypocrite.....
