Chandigarh, January 5 The Special Crime Investigation Cell (SCIC) of Chandigarh Police today arrested three youths, who had allegedly opened fire at Barista coffee bar in Sector 35 on the night of December 22.

A police team headed by DSP Satbir Singh arrested the accused. The arrested included Harkirat Singh, Gurpreet Singh Chahal and Rahul Dev

Harkirat alias Badal is the son of Deputy Director Food and Supply (Punjab). The Mohali resident is pursuing BA through correspondence from Panjab University.

Gurpreet Singh Chahal, a resident of Mohali, owned a licensed .32 bore pistol from which he had fired the gunshots.

Rahul Dev, a resident of Baltana village, owns Famous Fast Food Joint in Sector 35 C.

Their six accomplices, already identified by the police, are still at large. "Raiding at various places in Punjab to nab the absconding accused are on," said DSP Satbir Singh.

According to the police, the preliminary rounds of interrogations have revealed that they were in state of inebriation when the incident took place. “They were instigated by another group of youth to fire gunshots in air,” the police said.
