Kolkata, May 2 Contrary to claims by Left Front constituents like RSP and Forward Bloc, CPM patriarch Jyoti Basu today said undertanding on seat-sharing with Left Front partners in panchayat elections this month was much better this time. “This time understanding among LF constituents on panchayat seats is much better compared to last time,” Basu told reporters here after the party’s state secretariat meeting.

On RSP and Forward Bloc’s allegation that there was confrontation among Front partners in all districts over seat sharing, Basu said CPM allocated more seats to LF constituents this time.

He said a report was being prepared by the party and a clear picture on the number of seats where understanding was reached would be available after it was ready.

RSP and Forward Bloc have complained dummy candidates put up by CPM had made understanding among the Left parties a far cry.

RSP leader and PWD Minister Khiti Goswami claimed there was no seat seat adjustment in 85 per cent cases because of CPM’s alleged “high-handedness and intimidatory tactics”.
