‘Battle of the educated’ in the second phase of Ktk polls

Bangalore, May 13: The second phase of polls in Karnataka is going to witness the `battle of the educated' with 47 lawyers and 31 post graduates in the fray on May 16.

The contestants included, 26 professional degree holders, six medical doctors and 97 graduates.

Congress fielded 12 LLB degree holders as opposed to the BJP's four, BSP's five, JDS's nine and JDU's four. BSP also fielded nine post graduates followed by nine from BJP, seven from Congress while JDS and JDU had one each.

Six MBBS degree holders were in the fray one each from the BJP, BSP, JDU and SP and two from the Congress.

The second phase of the polls will see 49 matriculates eyeing for seat in the legislative assembly, 12 from the Congress, 10 from the JDS, nine from the BSP, four from the BJP and one from the JDU.

There were 35 non matriculates in the fray with the BJP fielding seven, BSP two, Congress three, JDS five and JDU four.
