New Delhi, October 17: Attacking Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee for her "opposition" to Nano project, senior CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said West Bengal has been deprived of industrialisation and people will assess her politics.

"If Mamata Banerjee has succeeded in relocating Nano project from Bengal, people of Bengal should consider relocating her," Yechury told reporters in New Delhi.

He claimed that people of the state have been deprived of proper industrialisation and that youths of Bengal were denied of potential jobs due to relocation of the Nano project.

"All this goes to the sort of politics that the Trinamool Congress and its leader are playing. We have also appealed to people to look into it," he said.

Politics by Thomas Jacob on 17 Oct 2008

What a change of ideology from our CPM comrades!!! All along they were at the giving end. Who is responsible for big industies like Brook Bond and Dunlop moving out of Calcutta? Who is reponsible for the current state of industrialization in W Bengal ? All along you were at the giving end, comrades!! Its only now that the table has turned. And its very very painful to be at the receiving end.I am in no way supporting Mamata for whatever she has done in Singur. But the reation coming from our poor comrades are a little hipocratic. How many of them supported Budha on his comments on Bandh? That clearly shows that their ideology has not all changed.

CPI (M) VS Mamta by Kadir Azaiz on 17 Oct 2008

Yes, Mamta played poor politics and she has joined the leauge of other 3rd rated politicians. However, CPI(M) should be happy with the act of Mamta as she has just behaved the way they (CPI (M)) has behaved for the last 30 years of (mis)rule. Mr. Yucheri should and his China oriented party should introspect instead.

Singhal by Bhupendra on 17 Oct 2008

Thank you Mr Yetchury for your comments. You are absolutely right about Mamata Banerjee. But hope that same yardstick can be applied to your party and every communits apart from Buddhadev Bhattacarya should be relocated out of India (prefeably to China).

Nano Project by trishankupune on 17 Oct 2008

This, coming from Yechury is a bit of a surprise considering that it was his glorious party that initially started the downward spiral in West Bengal's industrialisation. One might remind Yechury of the gheraos, strikes, bandhs and other disruptive protest mechanisms that have been sharpened by his party into a well oiled machine. It is because of these practices adopted by his party that politics in WB is in such a state and taht the political atmosphere is so very vicious. I think the time has now come for young bengal to rise up once again throw all such political trash (Mamata, Yechury et al) to the garbage dump that they belong to.

siita ram yechury about mamta by inderjeet on 17 Oct 2008

mr yechury you should look into yourself first what were you doing with congress in delhi till now before you called yourself that you have been cheated by congress

Funny! by Neil on 17 Oct 2008

Its sounds funny when CPM talk about industrialisation! Life has come full circle and they are getting back for what they did 30 years ago... Both CPM and Mamata are two sides on one coin... Destruction politics!

Commies Need to be Nationalist by ANon on 17 Oct 2008

WB government did not act with determination in dealing with Mamta. The Commies also resorted to some illegitimate and immoral deals with the opposition, like that of throwing Taslima Nasreen out of the state to please the Muslims involved in the Singur agitation. They have allowed the Singur agitation to be politically highjacked by Mamta, they should have instead tried to expose Mamta and her backend (Sonia) thouroughly - which did not (or could not). It will be better if the Commies get their act together in the political domain. They need to shed some of their inhibitions and prejudices - if they wish to exploit their full political potential. Most importantly some policy changes are also needed in their outlook, they need to be more nationalist.

Communist double standards by R Nair on 17 Oct 2008

That's funny, the only two states that are backward for no reason are Kerala and WB. Yechuri and his band of nay-sayers should be banned before mamata, coz they thought everyone to oppose progress.
