Podokhhep portrays the dynamics of the relationship between a retired man Shashanka Palit (Chatterjee) and his adult daughter, played by Nandita Das.
The film explores isolation, communication gaps and adopting oneself in new modes with changing times.
Chatterjee, however, sounded not much elated at his latest accomplishment.
“I am disillusioned with the national awards. These involve heavy lobbying and politics, and have little to do with the creative dynamics of filmmaking,” said the thespian.
“I am accepting it only for my fans, who have supported me and appreciated my work over the years,” said Chatterjee.
Though the actor didn’t see this particular performance as a landmark in his career, he said that the film dealt with crucial issues. Goutam Ghose, who has earlier chaired the jury of the awards, said, “For these awards to be meaningful, it’s important to encourage efforts from across the country, though at times they may fall short of the creative standards set by work from a specific region or language,” said Ghose.
This award is an acknowledgment of the hard work of the crew of Yatra, he added.
