Pankaj Jindal, Chief Coordinator of this programme said, “This is a four-tier competition. It is organized annually since 2001, under the Parishad’s motto of ‘Sanskar’. The contest will be held in the auditorium of Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, on January 5 and 6. Nearly 400 students will participate in it.”
The students, along with their guardians, will stay at Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar. About 20 sub-committees involving 100 members of the Parishad are working to accomplish this mega event.
Jindal said the contest has been organized to inculcate awareness about the culture and distinctive features of India among the school students. Nearly 15 lakh students participate every year in this competition at various levels all across the country. For this purpose, a book entitled ‘Bharat Ko Jano’ is published by Bharat Vikas Parishad, and distributed among the students.
MP Sharanjit Singh Dhillon; Sat Pal Gosain, Harish Rai Dhanda, Harish Bedi and Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Bansal are expected to attend the function.
The local members of the Parishad who are organising the contest include Pankaj Jindal (Chief coordinator), Ravinder Mittal, Rajinder Sharma, Vipin Bhatia (both coordinators), Narinder Mittal, Dalbir Nanda, Haripal Gupta, Suraj Jyoti, Ashwani Goyal, Ajay Sharma, Satish Singla, Brij Bhushan Bansal, Rajesh Julka, Lajpat Rai, Balraj Maria, Surinder Parsad, ML Anand, Dr Vijay Laxmi Kapoor and Dr DRC Bakhetia, all from the Ludhiana chapter of Parishad; Ashok Mahajan and Yash Mahajan from the state level, and Lalit Mahajan from the central body of the Parishad. The meeting started with ‘Bharat Mata pujan’ and Vande Matram, and concluded with the National Anthem.
