Mumbai Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal will be the new Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Bhujbal would also look after the Home department, party sources said on Friday.

Bhujbal replaces R R Patil who resigned from his post in the aftermath of the terror attacks in Mumbai last week. Bhujbal was in charge of the same portfolio in the previous Congress-Nationalist Congress Party government in the state.

Chhagan by peter on 05 Dec 2008

Good. By now people have forgotton about 'Telgi' episode when Chagan had to resign on moral grounds (read Corruption alegations), he can rejoin and start his loot again. Does Sharad not have any clean options left within his party?

Good. Now that people have forgotton the 'Telgi' episode, when Chagan had to resign following moral grounds (read corruption charges) he can rejoin the cabinet and and start looting the public again. Do'nt we have any clean politicians around? The same old corrupt leaders again?

What an exchange! by Avinash Birje-Patil on 05 Dec 2008

A person with foot-in-mouth problem is replaced by a corrupt one. Is this all that NCP has to give to Maharshtra?

Dy CM by Nitinckore on 05 Dec 2008

Mr Bhujabal now take the lessons from Mr RR Patil. Eventhough you dont work , pls learn hdont have any brek now to handle media. You can learn from Delhi Leaders. Your time start now, As media toady dont have any breaking news, so you will be forced to answer in such way that media should have enough food for at least 2-3 days. Dont worry no one will ask you about Telgi

Unbelievable by Vishnu Bhondave on 05 Dec 2008

I can't believe this. Surely, Sharad Pawar is not blind

people are equally useless to politicians by hrishikesh on 05 Dec 2008

the person who lost his virtue in Telgi case is now our Deputy CM, why media doesn't keep the heat on? Media is running after current issue, they don't keep any data, neither our people keep it in their mind. how people can forgive guys like Bhujbal, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan? why people/ media don't shout against Abu Salem thinking to be in parliament, why Samajwadi party and RJD always back the goons? why we need to give hell of exams to be on job, and by killing or doing crimes few people are spared in parliament, Rajdeep Sardesai try protect hindi or muslim people when time comes, but he never have word about Laloo and Sonia, whether such reporters are famous due to their idiosyncratic sorry intelligent but unjustifying reports and analysis. Barkha dutt always captures emotional movements when she is suppose to put up the facts and practical situations. how people don't learn anything from BBC! why we can not simply punish all Mujahidins and SIMI criminals straight a way?

Shame on Congress by Ris on 05 Dec 2008

It isa shame that congress it taking so much time to decide on a CM for a state like maharastra, it is clear they have not learnt anything.

More by Vilas Ponkshe on 05 Dec 2008

This is shocking. A person well known for his criminal record (remember what Telgi stated in the Narco test?) is the new Home Minister! Like the sanskrit saying,” Adhodhoyam patati ganga”, our systems are getting more

not another criminal by ajith on 05 Dec 2008

This is sad, these guys have the cheek to appoint someone who was ousted becuase of multi-crore scam, who is corrupt beyond definition. Who made the Mumbai even more corrupt. Does'nt the state of Mahrashtra deserve some one better. Is this our fate? Where are the people of Mumbai, where are the so called awakened Middle Class, think about it ? Do you need a thief to replace another thief. Will Bhujbal be any more effective. What is his plan to enhance the security of the state. Does he have a clean image. Think about the morale of the police force who have to take orders from a man infamous for corruption and crime. Does any one care for the morale. THis should not happen. Politicians should not decide who should rule the people, The people should. Where is people like M N Singh. What is Bhujpals qualification to be the Home Minister. Let's fight this menace of having to leave with criminals ruling us. Let's not blame politicans. .Let's blame ourselves. It is time, high time.

This is very wrong! by Tanmay Shivare on 05 Dec 2008

I endorse Ajith's feelings totally. Surly Sharad Pawar knows the reputation of this person. I can safely
