Patna Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said steps have been taken to hand over the management of the state's public distribution system to Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) which would help in preventing irregularities.

"Since all works of villages and farmers will be under the purview of PACS for implementation and surveillance, it will be better to give them the additional responsibility to avoid irregularities," Kumar said.

The chief minister was attending the inauguration of All India Cooperative Week.

"We have initiated steps in this regard," he added.

Reiterating his stand for holding elections to the Sakisha Samiti, the chief minister said the state election authority would be doing the needful in this regard.
