Kolkata, April 12 The CPM state secretary, Biman Bose, hit out at the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) for creating divisions in the Darjeeling hill areas and attacking CPM cadres and offices.

In a press release on Saturday, he stressed upon the need for a dialogue among the GJM, state government and the Centre.

"Workers of Janamukti Morcha attacked and ransacked CPM party offices in Darjeeling town, Kurseong and Mirik. They are attacking the residence of our leaders and workers and threatening them to leave the party," said Bose.

He said the morcha is trying to create a rift between the people of the Hills and the plains. They are creating disturbances in Siliguri. "We are trying to unify the people against such a move," Bose added.

Binay Tamang, GJM spokesperson said, "On one hand Biman Bose is saying that we need to sit for talks, on other he is alleging that we are targeting their cadres. This is not true. During a recent rally in Siliguri, CPM cadres, along with police, attacked innocent ex-Army men. No one will tolerate this sort of behaviour," said Tamang said. He said Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi has sent a fax to them extending his sympathies.
