To register their protest, party’s state secretary Biman Bose has written a letter to state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Debashis Sen asking him to take action against the SUCI.
In the letter, Bose has objected to the graffiti which states that the SUCI’s demands be met by the state government, failing which the government should “shoot them”. Among the demands listed in the graffiti are action against black marketers in fertilisers and that all farm produce be sold at fair price.
The graffiti also asks the government to properly implement the Centre’s NREGA scheme in the state and all NREGA card holders be given 100 days of employment according to the promise made under the employment guarantee scheme. In case the government cannot provide 100 days of employment, it should give equivalent
compensation to the card holders, the SUCI demands.
Bose has termed the graffiti filthy, provocative and undemocratic. “I don’t understand how a political party which participates in the democratic process can use such undemocratic words. I request you to see this case seriously, as it is related with maintenance of law and order in the state,” Bose said in the letter.
