Jaipur, May 16: Two days after the Jaipur serial blasts, the Union Cabinet was briefed on the probe, the similarities with the attack in Hyderabad last August and the possible involvement of the terror outfit Harkat ul Jihad-i-Islami (HuJI). But the Government admitted that a 'breakthrough' was still awaited.

Emerging from the briefing, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said the Cabinet had been briefed by the National Security Advisor and the Cabinet Secretary. “I don’t think we have reached a stage where we can claim that we have achieved a breakthrough,” Chidambaram said in response to a query on the progress in the probe.

Told that Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had said her state had received no actionable intelligence inputs from the Centre, Chidambaram said the Centre and the state shared the responsibility of law and order and intelligence gathering.

The admission of no-breakthrough-yet came even as police in Jaipur detained 35 Bangladeshis for questioning. Clearly, the police was probing the possible involvement of the HuJI, a terror group based in Bangladesh.

Sources said it is suspected that a group of 18-20 people were involved in the process of procuring explosives, materials and execution of the attack. The sources said that such a big attack could not have been carried out without local support.

“We believe that the entire thing was planned about four months ago and an advance reconnaissance was done at that time. The enactment of the final plan began 3-4 days before the blasts when cycles, cloth to wrap the bombs and ball bearings are believed to have been purchased,” the sources said.

The antecedents of people who have been detained are being checked thoroughly to establish whether anyone from outside the city had come and stayed with them in the days before the blasts.

Though the focus is HuJI, sources said the police have not ruled out the role of other terror organisations.

Police have been able to prepare sketches of three other suspects after questioning eyewitnesses. Among the eyewitnesses who helped in the process was the owner of the shop from where a bicycle was purchased. Police have also detained a few persons who resembled the man in the first sketch released by the police last night.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje announced the formation of a special team to deal with terror. “We have decided to form a SIT under an IGP-level officer to investigate the serial blasts,” she said.

In New Delhi, police detained three Afghan nationals for questioning from old Govindpura area in East Delhi. One of them reportedly resembled the sketch put out by the Jaipur police. DCP (East) Ajay Chowdhury said: “We did question them but nothing has been found against them”.

HUJI and Bangladeshi Muslims by Rakesh on 17 May 2008

I totally aggree with Bharat. In WB Bangladeshi muslims are blue eyed boys of the ruling CPM. A minister from Forward Bloc(minority offcourse) openly support terrorism. In WB the % of muslims have incresed in many districts. If you are muslim you can get a ration card, Voter card, Passport in no time ...If you are hindu...it will take months...In India Secularism ...means ...hindu Bashing and licking feet of Shaban Azmi and others (self proclaimed messiah of muslims)

HuJI is a Congress Vote-bank by Bharat on 16 May 2008

HuJi is a Congress and Communist vote-banks. HuJI and other Islamist organizations bring votes for Congress and other anti-national pseuo-secular parties. Congress is the mother of terrorism in India. Congress created Bhrindawale in Punjab, ULFA in Asom to destroy AGP, LTTE, naxalites and lists goes on. Untill we remove Congress and communists from soil of Bharat, we can't have security and peace. There are over 30 million illegal Bangladeshi muslims in India, who are Congress and communist vote-banks.

pizza lady and chamcha patil will be telling us hereafter when and where will be the next one.....Is there even any need for discussions these days about who is responsible anymore? Forgetful are all: the aam janta has a memory of 2 days, media about 3 days, politicians 3 days, corrupt lazy police about 5 days, IB-NSA about 5days. So where does that leaves us? What is next?Imagine this picture...In a dingy house Pizza lady and her three crying dirty babies (MMS, ShivrajPatil, Pranab) sitting around dinner table... being served raw chopped heads of hindus, the chef is a jihadi terrorist winking at pizza lady and smiling. Pizza lady is smiling back at him. The household servant maid washing utensils in the background is none other than pratibha patil... RSS wala standing outside are peeping thru window not able to do anything. This is what India has become... Any comments??

Poser to MAJ by Sriram on 16 May 2008

Why dont you Muslims call for a Jehad and fight against Islamic terrorism, the Friday sermon ranting Mullas (which lead to attacks against other religionists). Your people in India protest US attack on Iraq but not Islamic attacks against kashmiri Hindus or Gujarati Hindus.Poor jagdish Kumar's family is scared to even approach Govt for justice. Language, weather, food etc is all same for Indians, Pakis and Bangladeshis. But what differentiates them is secularism , because of religious background. Otherwise Bangladesh and Pakistan would have been secular nations where Hindus could have burnt a coach full of Muslims in Pak/Bangla just as Muslims did in India. So, INTROSPECT, THINK LOGICAL, BE OPEN MINDED and FOR CHANGE. You dont have to blame Hindus for you being backward.

response to MAJ by Sriram on 16 May 2008

Dear Mohammad,No one is stopping Muslims from getting educated.Anti Sati movement was started by Hindus. So you Muslims should raise your voice against the Mullas who shout for Jehad. You Muslims should save taslima from Muslim hawks. You Muslims should should condemn when Jagdish Kumar was killed in Pakistan in the name of Islam. You Muslims should introspect why not a single Muslim country is secular. You Muslims should open a Temple in Mecca just as you have a mosque in Ayodhya or Kanchi. You have guts to do that ? If we Hindus do , it becomes a communal problem. You Muslims should introspect and compare kashmir and Gujarat. For the 1000s of Gujarat that you committed against Kashmiri Hindus, they did not revenge in the name of Geeta. Do you have answers to these ?

I fail to understand how these Banladeshis have entered in India and infiltrated everywhere. There r no immigration laws for them?Is it possible for them to cross border and come to India in so many numbers without help of border securiyy forces?.On top of it this UNITER PROTERRORIST ALLIANCE (UPA) is mainly responsible for helping these terrorist by legitimising their stay in India. Why cant autorities kick these basterds Bangladeshis out of India?I feel that time has come where all hindus should unite and take part actively in identifying these Babgladeshis and kick them out or take this lying down under the name of secularism.

HUJI by Pankaj on 16 May 2008

Dear Editor Saheb, how safe u and brothers and sisters, particularly hindus in india. Yesterday there was news in Indialve, that three sisiters from minority community also died in the Jaipour blast, what about the remaining hindus those killded in the blast. But the thing is that, hindus are no more safe in there mother land. There severe atrocities to hindu minorities in Bagladesh, that Hindus have three optioni i.e. 01. Leave this country at an earliest possible.02. Convert to Islam and 03. if both option are not acceeptable then make suiside themselves. It is a fact sir. But it is very sorrow from the part of Hindus clpse there eyes. They love to die in this fashion like coward, cows and goats.Who will save hindus from this plight. because this United pro Terrorist Alliance (UPA) is totally aginst Hindus. the moment they will killed by these vulture the way they killed the innocent hindus in jaipur. Further the route cause of these activities is aprticulary religiona and its jehad.

HUJI by Mohammed Javed Akhtar on 16 May 2008

Dear Sir,This is in response to post by Mr Pankaj on 16th may here."... that Hindus have three optioni i.e. 01. Leave this country at an earliest possible.02. Convert to Islam and 03. if both option are not acceeptable then make suiside themselves..." Whether these are valid and real options before Hindus of India, is a subject matter that only Hindusin general and Mr Pankaj in particular, would know best. But one option which the ruling governments of past 60 years have happily chosen to ignore, is to educate Muslims and make them a part of the mainstream India. What happens when a section of society is ignored? Look at west, where people are divided on the basis of the color of their skin..what is the situation of those discriminated against? They always, as matter of rule, end up being criminals. All of, so called Islamists/terrorists are criminals, and they have to be treated like criminals. How many times have muslim community as a whole has objected to legal punishment being meted out on a criminal? Never. But that is a point even people like Mr Pankaj wouldn't pay much attention to, since it takes away from them an opportunity to vent their frustrations which have accumulted in their daily lives, which Freud rightly termed as 'Displacement'. Or would people like him come out of their homes in multitudes and support the cause of Muslim Education in India. I have my doubts.Yours Sincerely,Mohammed Javed Akhtar
