Chandigarh, June 15 A Musician, a writer and a poet, Professor Rajesh Mohan, head of the department of Music in the Government College, Dera Bassi, is an inspiration for many. Visually impaired since childhood, the professor, who is also the general secretary of the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), has proved that if one has a vision backed by unflinching determination, physical disability is not a deterrent.

With an endeavour to secure employment for the visually impaired, he has worked for and educated them about their rights since the last 11 years . Lauding the NFB for helping him in the cause, the professor said: “NFB has provided employment to many, but we need help from the government as well. They have no time to listen to our demands.”

A lover of music, Rajesh Mohan, aims to instill the same in the children. He has been organising free music workshops for the last 10 years and has also opened a music school in his hometown, Faridkot, which provides free classes to the students.

“I derive great pleasure from teaching the little ones. Music, for me, is next to God. I want to spread the art of music among the masses,” he says.

Prof Rajesh Mohan has two books to his cedit- Khawab Likh Raha Hu and Ek Bemanzil Safar. “I am a fighter and have never given up in life. I believe that nothing is impossible, all that you need is a strong will power,” he says.
