Islamabad Body tattoos are increasingly becoming popular in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The emergence of tattoo culture has brought with it several new artists who have technical and fine arts training, leading to an improvement in the quality of tattoos.

“In modern culture, it is a fashion and because I am an artist, I want to promote this art in one way or the other that is why I get tattooed here,” the Daily Times quoted Wasim Elahi as saying.

While some people prefer carrying on with the same tattoo for a long time, others are eager to get a new one after a short while.

As modern tattoos are available, it is possible to remove them with the help of laser.

But religious scholars are totally against the rising popularity of body art.

According to them, one cannot offer prayers with pictures tattooed on his body.

Experts have also warned that tattoos could pose a huge risk to a person’s life.

“Since tattoo instruments come in contact with blood and bodily fluids, diseases may transmit if the instruments are used on more than one person without being sterilized,” said an official of skin and laser clinic.

“However, infection from single-use needles is rare. In amateur tattoos, the risk of infection is elevated,” the official added.

He further said that unsterilised tattoo equipment or contaminated ink cause surface infections of the skin, herpes simplex virus, tetanus, fungal infections, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and HIV.
