Boucher was adjudged lbw when a Peter Siddle delivery from wide of the crease, struck him on the full. However, Scotford felt umpire Ashoka De Silva of Sri Lanka was wrong in presuming that the ball would have hit the stumps because according to the new rule framed in 2003 umpires must presume the ball would have carried on the line it was on and not deviate after bouncing.
"A ball bowled from wide of the crease like Siddle's would have gone on the line it was and missed the stumps," Scotford was quoted as saying in 'The Age'.
