“Human nature is weak and comes under pressure from different quarters. People want to live up to the expectations of other people. We all want recognition and praise from others, so we push ourselves to the limit. It is a mad race,” he said.
Kapoor added, “Instances of stress among children are also on the rise. Juvenile diabetes and obesity have become common. Parents and teachers are to be blamed for this. They need to identify the true potential of children. The skills need to be developed.”
Kapoor emphasised that breathing and mind is interlinked. If one follows the correct breathing techniques stress can be managed. “Breathing techniques can be evolved either through conscious effort or by exercise. Exhalation should be twice as slow as inhalation.”
“Most of us lack self-esteem. Whenever negative thoughts enter a person’s mind, they become the cause of psychosomatic illness. Give space to others and resolve conflicts peacefully. Coping with stress is not difficult. All that is required is a basic understanding of Indian philosophy and meditation practices. I teach simple techniques so that people do not feel stressed by the techniques themselves. I also help them find their true potential,” said Kapoor.
