According to a statement issued here, in addition to the primary responsibility of surveillance, checking infiltration and dealing with millitants on the Line of Control, Brigadier Singha also helped about 300 locals get artificial limbs free of cost.
Several civilians living near the LoC have lost their limbs due to mine blast and shelling. The limbs were provided in collaboration with the Prosthetic Centre, Jaipur. Brigadier Singha was also responsible for upgrading an Army-run school to Class XII.
In the past, Brigadier Singha was twice honoured with the Chief of the Army Staff Commendation Card for his meritorious service.
He is a fifth generation Army officer and his two brothers are also in the Army. Brigadier Singha is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College and Higher Command Course.
He has served as Colonel General Staff of an Armed Division and also served as a Chief Logistics Officer with the United Nations Peace Keeping Force in Ethiopia.
