Director-actor Farhan turned 38 today and his friends threw him a surprise birthday party last night.

Actor Boman Irani sent his wishes on twitter, writing, "Happy Birthday @FarOutAkhtar Now quickly write Don 3, 4 and 5!!!! Sorry I could not make it last night. Now that I am rested I am feeling bad."

To which Farhan replied, "thank you Boman. Missed you after getting over the shock of the surprise party last night."

Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted, "Happy birthday to my close childhood buddy and of the finest film minds I know!!! @FarOutAkhtar!!! Have the best year ever!!!"

Arjun Rampal said, "Happy happiest birthday Adi... lovely evening last night, the chicken curry OMG need the recipe. Rock On forever."

Actress Shabana Azmi tweeted, "Happy birthday Farhan jeete raho khush raho sehatmand raho (live longer, stay happy and healthy)".

Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor too wished him on the micro-blogging site.

Choreographer-director Farah Khan was also greeted on twitter.

"Happy birthday to the most entertaining person I know!!! Have done over 50 songs with her... love you Farah," wrote Johar.
