Melbourne, January 30: Melbourne, January 30: As Shaun Tait's indefinitely walking away from the game once again raked up the burnout issue, former coach John Buchanan has warned Cricket Australia of more such cases if ‘safety nets’ for players performing under demanding conditions were not explored further.

"There needs to be a good support mechanism around players and their families. I am not suggesting their isn't now, but it should stimulate the thinking about what is in place at the moment, and the safety nets that can be made available," Buchanan was quoted as saying.

He said it was a personal tragedy for Tait but CA officials should strengthen the support mechanisms for all top players.

"I think it is extremely disappointing for the young man... There is a whole combination of things there, with the injuries he is suffering, some to do with his personality, some to do with being catapulted back into the international arena, some to personal and public expectations of him.

"But hopefully the thing that does come from this is because he is a contracted player, Cricket Australia will look very much into the case."

The 24-year-old Australian fast bowler has been battling mental exhaustion for months, prompting his dramatic retreat from all cricket.

Good Riddens by Pratsy on 31 Jan 2008

I think for once Indian Cricket Team was successful in not making a mountain out of a mole as we tend to do time and again. Remember, Brett Lee was nothing until he played against India, tasted success and gained confidence. Aaqib Javed and the list goes on...

THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE shouted for month. Give schedule to new players when they will be played, when will there be rotation for rest. Criteria of performance. WHAT HAPPENS Now, Sresanth and Munaf are recalled, the peoson who performed well on ground can be pulled out!!! Quite the same with batting...Need better plan. Move players from National to League team, open the doors for ICL for them so they can play if they choose or rest and then come back.
