At the same time, Obama maintained that the US has made a series of ‘bad choices’ over the last several years.
Obama, who had frequently slammed the "failed policies" of the Bush regime on the campaign trail, told CNN yesterday that "I think personally he (Bush) is a good man who loves his family and loves his country."
He praised Bush's team for helping with a smooth transition and said part of what America is about is being able to have "disagreements politically and yet treat each other civilly."
Obama said he thought Bush made "the best decisions that he could at times under some very difficult circumstances."
"That does not detract from my assessment that over the last several years, we have made a series of bad choices and we are now going to be inheriting the consequences of a lot of those bad choices," he said.
In an interview on Fox News on January 12, Bush had said he "liked" his successor and praised him as "engaging".
"The man's obviously a charismatic person ... and the man is able to persuade people that they should trust him. And he's got -- he's got something -- he's got a lot going for him," he had said.
Bush had also lauded Obama for placing a high priority on his family.

“BUSH IS A GOOD GUY......”. THESE WORDS MIGHT SELECT AS JOKE OF 2009. NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. MAY GOD GUARD US.................
BUSH ADMINISTRATION'S ACHIEVMENT AS FAR AS INDIA IS CONCERNED IS THE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP AND THE NUCLEAR DEAL. BUT A LOT NEED TO BE DONE THE REAL CHALLENGE LIES AHEAD. THE TERRORISM, ECONOMIC DISPARITY, CLIMATE CHANGE ARE THE REAL CHALLENGES. THE ERA OF ONE COUNTRY DOMINANCE IS OVER. IF WE REALLY WANT TO MAKE PROGRESS ON THESE ISUUES UNITED STATES SHOULD TAKE LEAD AND DEMOCRATISE THE WORLD INSTITUTIONS SO THAT COLLECTIVE DECISION MAKING IS DONE. OBAMA ADMINISTATION CAN WORK IN THIS DIRECTION.
ofcourse he is a good guy as he demolished the economy of whole world to give benefit to his sycophants
The Indian politians should learn from Obama-Bush statements praising each other. The first thing an Indian polititian does after achieving victory and power is to institute inquiries and cases against the outgoing and defeated opposition leader.
Bush may well be a nice guy, but his administration is responsible for the mess that we arenow in. So, on 20 January, we will finally see the end of an ERROR!!!
Wow!!! What a love fest. Yes, yes, let us exchange pleasantries and niceness as we change administrations, but do not forget all the damage the Bush administration has wrought on this country. Bush deserves nothing, no praise, no sympathy. Where is that infamous Bush arrogance, that faux cowboy swagger? Now Bush is moving with alacrity, trying to avoid being known as the worst president ever. Too late, Mr. Skull and Bones! It only takes a cursory examination of current events to show the true measure of damage cause by this inept pretender to the presidency. The only place for Bush to run to is a courtroom where he should be tried for lies, violation of the Constitution, which he swore to "preserve, protect, and defend, and vulgar lies that led us to send the best of our young men to a needless war in Iraq. Let history and the record speak. Bush needs nothing but to forever fade away. Good riddance!
Indeed, Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Addington and the rest of the neocons in the Bush Administration are perhaps the very nicest war criminals that this country has produced so far. it remains to be seen whether they will be indicted, tried, convicted, and hanged, as American justice would reuire.
If the US does not prosecute Mr. Bush and others in his administration for the war crimes and the other crimes that they committed then those crimes have been accepted by all the people of the Us and as a nation the US will never be free of their consequences and their stain.
Or, Obama isn't any better ! Oh God! What's it going to be ? WMD, Terrorism, proclaim a possible Nuclear Strike or something else to attack Iran now ?
