Washington, January 24: United States President George Bush and his top administration officials issued hundreds of false statements about the threat posed by Iraq in the two years following the 9/11 terror attack, according to a study by the Center for Public Integrity, a non-profit journalism organisation.

The study counted 935 false statements made by eight top Bush administration officials in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues which, "were part of an orchestrated campaign that effectively galvanised public opinion in the run-up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq."

Officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them or had links to al-Qaeda or both, according to the study titled "Iraq- The War Card: Orchestrated Deception on the Path to War".

"It is now beyond dispute that Iraq did not possess any weapons of mass destruction or have meaningful ties to al-Qaeda," according to Centre founder Charles Lewis.

The false statements included in the analysis were made by Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell, National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, and White House press secretaries Ari Fleisher and Scott McClellan, the Center said in a statement.

Bush, with 260 false statements, led the scorecard, followed by Powell with 254.

"These false statements dramatically increased in August 2002, just prior to the Congressional consideration of a war resolution and during the critical weeks in early 2003 when the president delivered his State of the Union address and Powell delivered his memorable presentation to the United Nations Security Council," it said.

George W Bush has done a lot of help to Inida. No American President has done this much for India. Bush betrayed American interests by signing nuclear pact with India. you have to note the fact that India is a non-signatory to NPT. No President ever dare to do that.If Clinton is winning or even Mitt Romney or Micke Huckabee deal will not go thorough..

Bush Liar by Sanjay on 24 Jan 2008

Infact the war is not started by Bush or Cheney but Binladen he is responsible for all these mayham.Binladen's over confidence casued everything. He thought US can be defeated by his Soviet Experience. You canot blame Bush or Blair for this. Do you think Bush will sit idle or any other American president after getting a blow right on your nose I mean an attack on Pentagon.Japan was successful in attacking Pearl Harbour. But nobody on earth ever dare to attack Pentagon.Bush is not a christian or crusader but mearly a worldly standard person. If you get a slap then retun it to the other cheek principle. Please dont misunderstand Bush he is not a christian. The christian is one who follows Jesus in that respect Ghandi was a christian. Bush is not crusader because he did not do anything for the advancement of Christianity. But he worked for the state of America.

Bush and lies by sri on 24 Jan 2008

I heard that Bush was a devoted Christian: That is why, inspite of his blunders he returned to power with the solid backing of church. But now, it is shocking to know that he is a 260x lier not as a person but as the president. In a court, telling a lie is condemned. But...

Bush and pack of liars by raj shanti on 24 Jan 2008

Bush and his coteries Cheney,Paul wolfowitz, Condelissa rice are the biggest devils this earth has ever produced. They themselves created and carried out 9/11 attack on their twin towers and put the blame on the Muslims. For Oil they spoke all sorts of lies and invaded Iraq and are killing millions of Iraqies and Afghans. To defend and protect Isreal they are killing so many Palestinians. To carry out their neo con agenda they hv launched a crusade against Islam and maligning and tarnishing the name of Muslims all over the world. I wonder what sort of death these liars, warmongers and crusaders will get. Even God will also not accept these satans as he is doing in the case of Ariel Sharon who is still in Coma struggling to get death in this world.

Lies, Lies and WMDs!!! by Akz on 24 Jan 2008

Lies or no lies, wonder how they will manage to get sleep at night with so many bloods on their hand. I guess a pill or two can handle that as well. These spinners have done a great wrong on earth. The UN was only a mere spectator.
