CBI joint director Arun Kumar, who is leading the probe into the May 15 murder of Arushi Talwar and Hemraj, confirmed that the letter has been sent.
Sources said the CBI team believes Noida police had taken Krishna’s clothes when they picked him up for interrogation after Hemraj was found dead on May 17. But police, sources said, did not hand over these clothes to CBI with other articles related to the case when the agency took over the investigation on June 1.
CBI hopes to evidence from these clothes.
But then investigation officer of Noida police B R Nanoriya and present Noida SSP R K Chaturvedi refuted CBI’s claim. Nanoriya, now senior sub-inspector at Deoband Police Station in Saharanpur, said the police did not seize clothes from Krishna.
Chaturvedi told Newsline: “Krishna was not an accused when he was detained by Noida police. Why would police seize his clothes when his involvement in the crime had not come to light at the time? CBI had earlier also made such queries verbally but this time it has inquired officially.”
The SSP said UP Police would send a reply saying Noida police investigators never made any such seizure.
Noida’s Sector 20 Police Station SHO Jagveer Singh Mullick, made the investigation officer after Nanoriya’s transfer, told Newsline: “I prepared documents of the case when it went to CBI. Noida police did not have any of Krishna’s clothes.” Mullick had arrested Rajesh Talwar later.
