While the class 10th boards would end on March 30, the class 12th exams will end on April 2.

The secondary examinations will be held at 2,714 centres and class 12th at 2,506 centres.

A total of 14,62,016 students will take part in the examinations this year, which is 1,46,985 more than the last year.

Last year, 13,15,031 students took the examinations, a statement from the Central Board for Secondary Examination said.

About 8,24,438 students -- 4,87,475 boys and 3,36,963 girls -- would take the class 10th examinations while 6,37,578 -- 3,73,330 boys and 2,64,248 girls -- would appear for class 12th exams.

A total of 2,31,651 students have registered for class 10th examination in Delhi at 568 centres, while 1,81,393 have enrolled for class 12th at 555 centres.

This year, 3,935 students with special abilities -- 2,228 for class 10th and 1,707 for class 12th -- will appear in the boards.

CBSE has made special provisions for visually impaired students, who can write their examinations at 14 centres, including two foreign ones.

Visually impaired students will be allowed to use an amanuensis (one who write the examination for them), who could be a student of a class lower than the one for which the candidate is taking the examination.

The Centre Superintendent of the examination centre would choose a suitable amanuensis for such candidates.

As per new rules, the special category students would be given 60 minutes of extra time for a paper of three hours duration, 50 minutes for a paper of 2.5 hours duration, 40 minutes for papers of two hours duration and 30 minutes of extra time for papers of 1.5 hours duration.

Blind students in Delhi would be provided the facility of computer or typewriter for writing examinations.

CBSE has made a provision of alternate question papers for the visually impaired candidates which have visual inputs in the English communicative and social science papers for class 10th and History, geography, economics and political science for class 12th.

Also, there will be separate question papers in enlarged prints for mathematics and science in class 10th, the statement said.

CBSE has made a three-tier system for surprise checks to ensure smooth conduct of examinations, which include, flying squads constituted by it, flying squads from Directorate of Education and appointment of special observers from outside.
