CIA police arrest three with stolen spare parts worth Rs 25 lakh

Ludhiana, May 15 The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-II police have arrested three persons for stealing spare parts of agricultural machines worth Rs 25 lakh.

The arrested gang members have been identified as Amarjit Singh alias Manga, Ashok Kumar and Lukinder alias Kala. All trio were arrested yesterday evening by a police party led by CIA-II in charge Sub-Inspector Dilpreet Singh following a tip-off.

Addressing a press conference here today SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor told the mediapersons that Dilpreet Singh had received a secret information that these three persons were going towards Sahnewal from Ludhiana in a Tata 207 vehicle with stolen booty. Following this, the CIA police party arrested the trio on the GT Road near the Dhandari Kalan railway station.

SP Toor said when the police party arrested them along with stolen spare parts of tractors, generators, thrashers, combine machines and cycle parts. The SP said the recovered contraband weighed 16 quintals and 37 kg. He said with their arrest, the police have managed to solve at least 10 theft cases registered by the Focal Point, Shimlapuri and Division number 2 police stations. Most of these thefts had taken place in April and May.

SP Toor said the trio used to sell the booty at cheaper rates. The SP said that further investigations were on in this connection and more cases were likely to be solved with the further questioning of the arrested persons.
