Nandigram (WB), December 9: A team of CID sleuths visited the mass grave site at Bamanchok village at Khejuri, and interrogated the people there following the state government orders.

The six-member team led by IG (CID) D P Tarenia also visited Sherkhanchok, Sonachura and Khejuri yesterday and spoke to the families of five persons whose bodies were allegedly in the grave, East Midnapore police superintendent S P Panda said.

They also spoke to the people of those places and to the police personnel of Khejuri police station, he said.

Panda said of the five persons, four belong to Gokulnagar while one was from West Midnapore district, and the required papers were handed over to the CID by their families.

The documents were later handed over to the CBI, which is probing the March 14 police firing at Nandigram which claimed 14 lives.

Zilla Sabhadipati Niranjan Shi claimed that the five were CPI-M members and the bomb was thrown at them from Nandigram killing them on October 28 and their bodies buried in crudely dug graves at Bamanchak village.

Following a government order on December 7, the CID is inquiring into the identities of the persons whose charred bones and portions of skulls were exhumed from the graves on November 27.
