CM urges migrating students to come back

Kolkata, March 3 Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has expressed concern over the rising phenomenon of brain drain in the state and urged students to come back and work for their land.

“They should come back and do something for the country, not just think of themselves,” Bhattacharjee said.

Addressing students at the inauguration of the new building of K K Das college near Patuli in South 24 Parganas, the CM there are many institutions of higher learning in the state, but students go abroad for higher education.

Many meritorious engineers, scientists and doctors of our country are working abroad, Bhattacharjee said.

At present, the college holds its classes at Dinbandhu Andrews College. The construction of the proposed building of the college had begun in 2001.

K K Das college has 750 students in the commerce stream. It will start arts and science streams, and honours courses in English, Mathematics, Bengali, History from April this year.

“I have come to know that the college is starting a course on food and nutrition, I would advice if the college can start a course on hospitality management as well,” he said.

The Chief minister also said: “We cannot ignore history and literature, without which we will not be civilized. At the same time we have to put more focus on the development of science and technology.”

    Reddit

    Reddit allows users to submit news articles and other online content to the site. Users also give articles a thumbs-up or thumbs-down. Reddit then uses those votes to build a user profile and to find articles to recommend to you. Users can also submit comments on items posted to the site.
