New Delhi Anguished over young children and people being killed in police firing in Jammu and Kashmir, CPI(M) member Brinda Karat today demanded a timebound probe into the excesses and unconditional dialogue with all sections of society.

"Stone pelting cannot be answered with bullets. Sixty six people have been killed there in the last two months while undertaking peaceful protests. An all-party delegation should be sent to Jammu and Kashmir to express solidarity with them," she said through a Zero Hour notice in the Rajya Sabha.

She said a timebound and independent probe should be conducted into the excesses there and unconditional dialogue initiated with all sections of society.

The delay in starting dialogue shows "callousness" of the government, she said.

Karat said that yesterday a 10-year-old child was killed in police firing and recently a group of children playing carrom were also fired at injuring them seriously.

"The Prime Minister had recently spoken of non-lethal methods for resolving the prevailing situation in J-K. I want to know how many more are to be killed and incapacitated. For how long government will allow such excesses?" she asked.

truth by Ms Karat By: M.Ashraf Baba | 01-Sep-2010 Reply | Forward Hats of to Ms Karat for telling truth on floor of Indian Parliament. So far Home Minister, Farooq Abdullah, and Prime Minister have only told Naked Lies on this Floor. It is to be mentioned that this truth has found a place on Indian Express only. All other print and electronic media barring ETV Urdu has no guts to publish or telecast this News. I may add that if Farooq Abdullah or P. Chidambrum is so sure that majority of Kashmiris loves India from the core of their heart, why then not to hold a refrendum and settle the issue once for all. Let learned Indian masses know what is happening in Kashmir is not truely reflected by a biased media
