Patna The CPI-ML (Liberation) would contest 75 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said in Patna on Tuesday.

A decision to this effect was taken at the two-day meeting of the party politburo which concluded on Tuesday, he said. The politburo has decided to field maximum number of dalit and tribal candidates in reserved as well as in general constituencies, Bhattacharya informed.

Ruling out the possibility of emergence of third front 'right now', Bhattacharya said his party would contest at least six Lok Sabha seats against CPI(M) and CPI in West Bengal.

"In Bihar, we may be putting up our candidates from 20 to 22 Lok Sabha seats," he disclosed.

Hoping that the left alliance would remain intact till the polls, the CPI-ML leader said "economic crisis, increasing US interference in India's internal matters, insecurity, unemployment and the increasing cost of living" would be his party's major poll issues.

Talking about Bihar, Bhattachaya said "widespread resentment prevailed among the masses against feudal elements in the Nitish Kumar led government which is evident from the mass anger he is facing during his vikas yatra".

CPIML - THE true revolutionary by db on 15 May 2009

Knowing little and commenting like experts is the habbit of so called educated people. CPIML Liberation is a party which is always fighting for poor. in last 3 or 4 decades they lost so many leaders and workers to fight against the oppression. If it is the outlawed organization then all the political parties should be banned first for filling up candidates who are criminals, used to take bribes. Perhaps our learned commentors are afraid to face the facts.
