The exclusion of Chatterjee is significant as the CPI(M) has so far been maintaining that he should toe the line of the party, which has decided to vote against the government.
A three-line whip was issued to 41 CPI(M) MPs asking them to reach the national capital on July 20 and be present in Lok Sabha on the next two days besides voting against the government.
CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat while maintaining that it was for the Speaker to take a decision on resigning his post, contended that a person holding this high office does not cease to have political affiliations.
"After someone ceases to be a Speaker, they resume political activities," he said in a newspaper interview giving clear signals that the party expects Chatterjee to step down before the trust vote.

Any right thinking person who has some knowledge of and closely follows Left politics in India, feels the time has come for a repeat of the B.T.Randive episode. This time, however, it should be Prakash Karat who is shown the door. Bengal line should once again assert itself and brush aside Prakash Karat and some of the proponents of Kerala line. This is absolutely essential for the survival of party. I wonder why Jyoti Babu is keeping silent. After all, this Prakash Karat, his wife Brinda Karat and some other Stephanians didn't allow Jyoti Babu to avail of the historic opportunity which came knocking at the door some years ago.Jyoti Babu, please don't remain silent. Come out in the open and save the party from disaster.
We should kick the communist people out of India.Just dump them in the Indian ocean, atleast fishes will have a feast and the rest of the Indians can live nice and well too.
Talk some sense man....I think you shud be the first one to be dumped..atleast India will be free from utterly senseless ppl like you
Which ever way the Trust Vote goes the main looser will be Karat and the Left Parties.
Although the UPA has selfishly pursued the N-deal negotiations by not bringing others into the fold, the Indian Nationalists led by the NDA/BJP should not do a tit for a tat now. The government can easily survive and the N-deal sealed if the BJP chooses to sit mum at the no confidence motion. By choosing to abstain, the BJP will be doing an important service to the nation and will also be able to come back as a resurgent force in 2009.
well said. This is the need of the hour and this is the only way to seal this all important N-deal.
A jat sikh -self styled godman-who is a close relative of a killed sikh terrorist is converting hindus in sirsa(haryana) to a religion that was founded by a muslim. he is doing it with the help of a few hindus who are with him for money, girls, power and immunity from law.similarly these godmen form their own religions and getting millions in donations from innocent hindus
have u forgotten HINDI -cheeni BHAI BHAI ?????...... china fears USA- so has to kill the deal through its agents. At this stage,China do not wish to do it openly- so wants to kill the deal under a secret action- through KARAT. if it won't happen only then china will come out and oppose the deal in open
1. How come Communists - can talk of country patriotism - when they are the lovers of China and Russia.2. Somanath is the most opportunist guy in the earth. He says he can not vote against UPA along with BJP. What an absurd logic? If BJP does good thing and criticizes illegal things then Somnath will do all illegal things as he can not do legal things along with BJP? These jokers are our Speakers?
Somanath is a good person,he loves his country,he will do the right yhings,on July22,2008 VOTE for Govt.
only time will tell , what somnath will do.his goal was not 'supporting congress' ,but to 'keep out BJP'.Now what has happened, His party has pulled the support...All bunch of shameless hypocrites.
Gulag gate keepers and Mao's boot thugs, good riddence to bad rubbish. OIndia will be at last free of thugs and goons
Mr. Somnath Chatarjee has deserted his party because of which he is there where he is today. Somehow, in the twilight of their career, these seasoned politicians comit one lifetime blunder. Ditto Advani's Jinnah affair.
