The results, which were declared on Tuesday under a consolidated system of review, revealed a huge change in the marks of a large number of students who had sought a review.

Over 61 per cent of 6,888 students under the Part I (1+1+1) system, who sought a review of their scripts, saw their marks increased while marks of only 179 students decreased. Similarly, in Part II (1+1+1) system, of the 9,097 students who sought a review, marks of 6,413 students which is 70.5 per cent of the whole figure, has increased and marks of only 79 students decreased.

The scene was no different in the results of Part I (2+1) system where 449 of the 700 applicants who demanded review of their marks witnessed their figures inflating. The authorities, however, feel that there is nothing to panic.

“I am happy that marks of so many students have increased,” said Suranjan Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Calcutta University.

The review results of the B Com examination declared in the last week of February also shown similar trends. In case the marks increase is more than 10 in any subject, then only the correction process can be blamed for it, the authorities feel.

The centralised review system of the university which started from this year helped in making the review results easily accessible.
