“We should be very, very clear with Pakistan that we want to see a strong, steady, democratic Pakistan but we cannot tolerate in any sense this idea that the country is allowed to look both ways and is involved in promoting terror in any way in India, in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world,” Cameron said at the start of his first visit to India after becoming Prime Minister. He was delivering a public address at the Infosys Technologies campus in Bangalore.
He said the relationship with Pakistan is important but the clear message from the US and UK is that countries cannot have relations with groups promoting terror. He said he had discussed this issue with US President Barack Obama and the Pentagon and would discuss it with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during meetings Thursday.
He was replying to a query on whether the US and UK needed to rethink on Pakistan in the light of Internet leaks of documents revealing its double-speak on terror.
(Appearing on Radio 4 after his speech, Cameron said: “I choose my words very carefully, which is that it is unacceptable for anything to happen within Pakistan that is about supporting terrorism elsewhere,” Guardian reported.
His remarks drew an angry response from Pakistan which said it had done more than other nations in combating terror. “Our people and security forces have rendered innumerable sacrifices. We hope that our friends will be able to persuade India to view this issue objectively and the value of cooperation in counter-terrorism,” PTI quoted Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit as saying.)
Cameron called for closer cooperation with India on counter-terrorism and sharing of information in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games and London Olympics.
“We, like you, are determined that groups like the Taliban, the Haqqani network or Lashkar-e-Toiba should not be allowed to launch attacks on Indian and British citizens in India or in Britain. Nor against our people, whether soldiers or civilians, from both our countries who are working for peace in Afghanistan,” he said.
Cameron promised to lift the bruised British economy by taking ties with India to the next level.
Saying his 58-member delegation was on a “jobs mission”, he called for “stronger, wider, deeper” ties across sectors — information technology, infrastructure, retail, defence, education, telecommunication and counter-terrorism.
“This is a trade mission, yes, but I prefer to see it as my jobs mission. Indian companies employ 90,000 people in the UK. Many more jobs in Britain exist thanks to the activities of British companies in India. Now I want to see thousands more jobs created in Britain, and of course in India through trade... That is the core purpose of my visit,” he said.
“I want this to be a relationship which drives economic growth upwards, and drives our unemployment figures downwards,” he said.
He said his new coalition was reviewing technology outsourcing contracts awarded by the previous Labour government in terms of cost and value on account of the flailing economy but asserted that Britain remained among the “most open, globalised economies” in Europe.

This is the reason that Pakistan has taken the responsibility for the safety of top terrorists in and outside Pakistan. USA will never be able to catch the real terrorists. The moment the top terrorist is caught, Pakistan will dry up its financial aid from the US, and send the country to a chaos.

It is satisfying that UK Primeminister has denounced and warned Pakistan for exporting terror to India.However, mere words do not carry any weight if they are not supported by proper action.UK should not only warn but take effective and collective action to curb terror sponsored by Pakistan,s ISI and army.Peace can prevail in the region only if the elements in Pakistan army and ISI are shown their proper place.IN this regard colective action of all including America,India and UK need be enhanced.Mere verbal diplomacy would not work if they want peace to prevail in the region.

The ball is in Pakistan court now if Camron is serious in his statement, as they can not sail in two boats at a time any more, enough is enough, they have be fooled the world for long time, to take aid and charities in billion and billions of dollars, in the name of terrorism and other excuses. Well i watched the debate for Elections in UK, Mr. Cameron then was attacking the immigrants, the jobs outsourced and in general was kind of feeling very xenophobic. Now Mr. Cameron has come to India stating he's on a job mission, man u gotta be kidding me, Mr. Prime Minister, on one hand u denounced Asians taking the jobs which at one time ordinary UK national shunned or was not qualified for and on the other u come to India asking for Indian Firms to create jobs in Britain, Is he Serious????
While Cameroon's comments are welcome, we must not forget that he is likely to forget all about it when it comes for action. The Pakistanis are fully aware that UK & USA are good at making comments & then giving them arms & money at the slightest pretext. Over the last 3 decades, the majority of such arms & money have been used by pakistan to forment terrorist incidents in India. If britain is to correct its pro Pakistani bias, the least it can do is to announce suspension of all aid to Pakistan till the Pak army & ISI give up their policy of promoting & exporting terror.
50 years after independence, over 400 millions do not have clean water, shelter and food. Still, India wants to go to moon when these problems on earth exists. In 1947, the population was around 300 millions , now over 1 billion, adding Austrlai every year. No one can solve this country's population. Concentrate on this, forget blaming every one else for your follies.
It is a paradox ambiguous situation in which the USA to stop their war on terror consequently to stop all aids to Pak such as financial, economical and military. And convict pak for their violence of international law of NPT proliferation and exporting terror America, UK, India and world. The USA and UK were intimidated by Pak terror, so, they are frightened to react; such living in struggle, it is better to die than living in disgrace. Pak is a threaten to USA, UK, India and world as a whole.So the peaceful life of the world is in Jeopordy by this trivial Govt., of Pak.
It is very good the UPA has been slowly through diplomatic, international forums and bi-lateral ties have been slowly sidelining pakistan and forcing action on Terrorism. This is a great strategy and winning strategy. Mr Krishna, Manmohan Singh and Congress needs to be praised and congratulated. We see how china uses their economic power and lending power to control hundreds of countries to vote for their favour. Slowly UPA is learning from our communist neighbor. Good job UPA.
Was watching interview with David Cameron on NDTV. The ambiguous mixed feelings of Britain (and by extension may be US as well) was very clear. And this is something else we are reading. We do understand the geo politics reality that if at all NATO forces require conduit for road supplies to their forces,they cant do without pak. But at the same time, CIA and NATO intelligence can return the favor to pakistan by bleeding pak to death as well. If pakistan turns into another lebanon becoz of that so be it. It is not jingoism, but is a case of hobson's choice. India, china and other immediate neighbors need to be aware of the implication and prepare for any eventuality. Rogue nations like Pakistan, Somalia, afghanistan, north korea and others have to be dealt like criminals. If civilian govt. is not in a position to bring its military forces and intelligence community under its control, then their bad luck.
This is, perhaps, the first BOLD statement made by young new P.M of Britain against terrorism and its fountainhead Pakistan. If this has come from his heart, it is most welcome as a late realisation. Any way simple condemnation by words alone shall not help. UK and USA must translate their words to concrete action plan like drastic cutting down on supply of arms and increasing aid related to upliftment of poor and stopping talibani education in madrasas.
First, BPM Cameron realised from this Taleban was born. It was misused by US against war with Russian. Instead of given advice/message to Pakistan this remark/messages should go to US. All over the world there is problems, Iraq, Afganistan, Palestine, Lebnanon Pakistan, etc. only this coutries spend Dollars in term of aid and selling weapons but do not nothering.
What we have a problem of terrorism in India to solve, which needs action. Searching archives and doing historical research on the origins of taliban is not the priority. Also before slecting to comment on the problems in other Muslim nations in the world, we need to secure our security situation at home in India against cross-border terrorism.
This is not fair. Every country can export those things which it can produce and are in excess of local demand. That is same with every country. Afghanistan does with drugs, European countries export deadly Weapons, China exports third rated goods so also Pakistan exports terrorism which it can produce in huge quantity and of highest quality. You can not deny them that advantage. It is not fair in International trade practices. In fact Pakistan must obtain patent for its terrorism methods.

It is a good sign. I do not agree with the opinion that since Britain is getting arms deals from India, Cameron is talking like that. Obviously, there is a pricking by the west's conscience. Pakistan can no fool everybody all the time.
The western powers know what they have been overlooking of the doings of Pakistan. India has a clear option of HOT PURSUIT of the TERROR-TRAIL. All we suffer from is the selfishness of politicians or the so called statesman right from the year 1948 when crores of refugees poured into our country.
U.S nad U,K have common agenda. In last 20 years, these high level officers have come to both countries many times. When they speak in India they accuse Pak or warn the Pakis for Terrorism. When they reach Islamabad they say any issue must be resolved through negotiation and insist India and Pakistan to talk. If U.S have right to attack their enemies why not India ?

Off late, every foreign leaders has spoken one thing in india and another(impact is opposite) in Pakistan and vice-versa. Lets wait and see the consistancy and intensity of UK/US speach/action against Pakistan. We are led by cheap and useless leaders. Pakistan is led by effective leadership(at least against Indian interest). They have better planning and action line than we have.
