Kolkata, May 29 With the results of Higher Secondary and Madhyamik examinations been declared, the students are eagerly awaiting the admissions in the undergraduate courses. Selecting the right course and then getting admission in a good college is a tough nut to crack, and as it seems, more tougher than clearing the examinations.

Despite the declaration of the Higher Secondary Examination results on May 20, the Higher Education Council had decided that the admission process would begin only after the Joint Entrance Examination, which was scheduled for May 24, thereby delaying the admission process.

The Indian Express visited colleges and universities across the town to get a bird’s eye view of the admission process and the related criteria.

The university makes it necessary for a student to pass in English to enroll in the 3-year Honours and general courses. Colleges will work out aggregate marks based on best four subjects, excluding Environmental Science.

Last date of admission is August 23 and last date of change of stream is September 26.

While St Xavier’s College will only accept forms online, Presidency College has decided to continue with entrance tests for admission to all the departments.
