Mumbai, March 17 The Versova police have registered a case and pressed the charge of criminal intimidation against actor Randeep Hooda following a complaint filed by Kuldeep Halwasia (40), a businessman residing at the Seaside Co-operative Housing Society in Yari Road.

According to the Versova police, Hooda who has acted in films like Monsoon Wedding, D and Risk, got into an altercation with Halwasia on the premises of the building on March 1 over parking of vehicles.

Senior Police Inspector Dilip Mane from the Versova police station said, “In the morning of March 1, when Halwasia, a businessman dealing in petro-chemicals, came to get his car to leave for work, he discovered that Hooda had parked his pick-up Jeep on the way. When Halwasia told the watchman to call Hooda down to get his jeep out of the way, Hooda came down and an argument ensued between the two, which led to exchange of abuses. As per the statement given by the complainant on March 2, Hooda allegedly tried to hit him with an iron rod, but he managed to dodge the blow. The complainant also said that Hooda threatened to get even with him.”

The case has been registered under Section 506 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (criminal intimidation) and Hooda has been summoned to the police station for questioning.

“As of now, no arrests have been made as we are still conducting preliminary inquiries into the allegations made by Halwasia,” Mane added.

When contacted, Hooda’s spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar dismissed the allegation and said, “Nothing of that sort happened. Randeep just had a disagreement over a trivial matter in his colony.”
